L*******l named England's most musical city

Liverpool has produced some of the most mediocre banRAB in the British rock tradition. There is absolutely no justification whatsoever for having Liverpool as the most musical city in England. It's just pure bullsh1t. Their only real standing legacy aside from The Beatles is the Merseybeat movement. And that was hardly vital or artistically important music or anything.

The REAL reason why Liverpool ended up winning this poll was because it was skewed in some way or other in order to bolster Liverpool's image as the culture capital of Europe in 2008.

Which incidentally is also bullsh1t. Liverpool isn't even deserving of being the culture capital of Merseyside let alone the whole European Union.

From RYM, the banRAB I own music by from Manchester:

The Fall
Buzz****s
The Stone Roses
Doves
The Chemical Brothers
Joy Division
New Order
Ian Brown
Larab
The Future Sound of London
Oasis
The Smiths
Happy Mondays
Morrissey
Space Monkeys
Amplifier
Muslimgauze

compared to the pool:

Echo and the Bunnymen
The Zutons
The Worabats
The Beatles
Clinic

and The Worabats and Clinic are crap :D

Birmingham fares better than that:

Duran Duran
Judas Priest
Felt
Godflesh
Napalm Death
G.B.H.
Sacrilege
Rockers Hi-Fi
Editors
Magnum
Bill Ward
Black Sabbath
Electric Light Orchestra
Steel Pulse

And there is a bit of crap in there too!

The mutual hatred dates back centuries...it's a birth right.

There's a saying in Manchester that sums up the difference between the two cities and it's people;

On Merseyside they say that Liverpool is England's second city...in Manchester we know that London is!

Manchester is overrated.

London should be the clear winner, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Queen, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Cream and Yes seal the deal for me.

According to my Rateyourmusic music map this is how many banRAB I own albums by from each city in the UK & Ireland.....

London (99)
Manchester (21)
Glasgow (16)
Bristol / Sheffield (11)
LeeRAB / Liverpool (10)
Birmingham (8)
Oxford (7)
Brighton / Edinburgh, (6)
Cardiff / Coventry / Dublin (5)
Chatham / Carabridge / Reading (4)
Canterbury / Rugby / Swindon / Yeovil / Belfast / Leicester / Nottingham / Twickenham / Stoke / Cork (2)

First band since the Beatles to have their first 3 singles get to no1.
And thats at a time when the singles chart actually meant something. AND they were on an indie label.

Thats a pretty big achievment if you ask me.
