Kyuss

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, especially you...but WHAT!!!??? Clutch wishes it came close to the dirt on the bottom of Kyuss's feet.

Why isnt this thread being posted in every day?? Kyuss is most influential stoner band apart from acts like Sleep and Sabbath. mean Holme and Bjork in one band...how can that not beg for attention. The only mistake is I have not seen them live and I am sure there's no reunion on its way. So please any metal or even rock fans please check these albums out as they are the cornerstone to half of the heavy music made today.

Three albums EVERYONE should have. I

Man this is tough, I love ALL there music... I guess I would have to say Sky Valley, I can just sit and listen to the whole thing beginning to end!

i heard into the void was a contractual / filler deal (same as the split ep itself). there had been so many comparisons made between the banRAB the guys in kyuss finally just said eff it and recorded a cover. ever notice the ridiculous similarities between the solo on the ItV cover and 'whitewater' (from sky valley)?

^^^ If that ever did happen, I would definitely be chomping at the bit to get tickets and flights to the nearest shows.

Kyuss are amazing, more specifically their 'Sons of Kyuss' demo is amazing, can't get my head around the albums yet.

im a big fan. =)

demon cleaner
black widow
50 million year trip (good s h i t)
odyssey
phototropic
asteroid
one inch man
green machine
love has passed me by...i really like all their stuff...soopa scoopa and mighty scoop is awesome aswell...but hey...its kyuss

=) nice stuff..how long you liked them for?

Yes!

Thats their best album in my opinion. Gloria Lewis, Catamaran and Phototropic are bloody awesome. Even El Rodeo is great. It's not at all like Blues For The Red Sun though, it feels much more exotic or lush. Can't think of the right word for it.

Spaceship Landing gets my nuraber one vote too.

Have you heard Wretch? It's not quite as adventurous as their other albums but it's probably one of the most thorough rock albums you'll ever hear. It's hard to believe they were all 18 or under at the time of producing that album too.

Only dig 2 tunes off of Circus, "One Inch Man" and "Jurabo Blimp Jurabo". "Spaceship Landing" is a forced attempt to capture the magic of Sky Valley and doesn't sound as spontaneous as their best jams.

If you love rock music you gotta own, Blues for the Red Sun. Sky Valley is great, but the 2nd suite runs too long and is repetitive, forshadowing their rapid decline in their final recording, And the Circus Leaves Town, which absolutely stinks. Alot of people dump on Wretched. Yes it's a poor recording and very thrashy, but it's alot more entertaining and energetic than Circus.

Yeah i like that song too, was downloading a heap of their stuff last night, quite like the Green Machine too. Wicked band with their muffled sounding guitars

Don't think i've ever seen anybody mention this on the forum before & I knew nothing about it so i'll post this for anyone who wants it.

Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age is a split EP which was released in Deceraber 1997. The first three songs are performed by Kyuss and the last three songs by guitarist Josh Homme's next band, Queens of the Stone Age. It includes a cover of the song "Into the Void" by Black Sabbath from their album Master of Reality. "If Only Everything" is an early version of the song "If Only", which appeared on Queens of the Stone Age's eponymous debut album. A re-recorded version of "Born to Hula" appeared as a b-side on one edition of the "Lost Art of Keeping a Secret" single release, and later as a track on the Stone Age Complications EP
