KoRn or Disturbed?

Overall I think that although KoRn has more albums and songs to listen too, and are better known, Disturbed is better.
To me the difference is the raw energy that you can hear in a lot of Disturbed's songs, vs. how KoRn's sometimes have that feeling, but are also a lot of the time just depressing, or almost disappointed sounding.

Meh. There are only a couple of good songs on that album. I guess I agree that it's probably better than anything Disturbed has ever done but that's not saying much.

Fair enough, Janny. I don't need to try to change your mind, I know how you feel. :)

They sound interesting, but I can't find too much info about them. What should I listen to first or download?

Not the genre of music I listen to much... Listened to a little Disturbed back in the day, but I remeraber in middle school and stuff always listening to Korn. Hah, I remeraber like the 3 big artists that I listened to at one time were Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock. Ah, to be 13 again.

But I've never been a huge Disturbed fan... Don't really like the guys voice much. So I'll go with Korn

Korn definitely. I'm judging their first 4 albums only, but in my opinion they were enough. Judging by raw emotion and energy, korn definitely has the edge with jon as the singer. disturbed is good, but you can feel the anger and pain in jons voice and connect with that. he relived his experiences in the studio that fueled the lyrics for his songs. while david is a good singer, he sings off of technicality and skill, jon sings from pure emotion and heart, there is a huge difference there for me, i like something i can connect with.
next thing is that korn's first 4 albums were completely different from each other. self titled was more metal, pure rock, nothing else really. life is peachy seemed like more of an experimental record, just throwing stuff to see what works. follow the leader had more of a hip hop feel to it in general. and issues was more melodic by far and had a smoother sound while still remaining korn. disturbed put out one good album, their first, and the rest in my opinion sound exactly the same.
not to mention that korn started the nu metal scene, they automatically get points for being that much more original. so yeah, korn all the way. and notice the opinions expressed here are just that, opinions and everyone has one.

I hardly listen to either...

But I'd go with Disturbed. Reason: I prefer listening to their music? '10 000 Fists', 'Stricken', 'Decadence'; good songs.

Ive listend to Overkill (American thrash metal) a few times before but nothing from Artillery (Danish technical thrash metal) so far, I will have to make it a point to check them out.
KORN (American nu-metal)
Disturbed (Heavy Metal)

Honestly, I don't know for sure. I don't actually own anything by them. A lot of my frienRAB in high school were into them though, which (according to Wikipedia) would be the era of their debut EP and LP. I also saw them in concert when they were on tour for their album High Definition and thought they were really good live. They just really jump out at me as a band you might like based on a lot of other stuff I know you like. :)

Also, I don't know if it's possible but maybe Follow the Leader is underrated, at least on this forum; it's a great "pop metal" album. 'Freak on a Leash' and 'Got the Life' are both excellent singles and there are several other solid songs...

I like both banRAB, but I was way into Korn before Disturbed. Disturbed's first album was awesome, but they can't top Korn's self titled album IMO. You can't beat songs like ***et, Divine, Ball Tongue, Daddy, Clown, and Shoots and Ladders. Korn was an influence on Disturbed's music. David, is a better singer than Johnathan IMO, but I still have to go with Korn.

I have to be in a certain mood in order to listen to either band actually. Often people dislike a band because they havent had enough exposure to them, or simply just dont like their music. When comminting about music without being willing to giving it a chance, one should open their mind to the band itself and back-catalogs, As for my own personal opinion "I dont think that Korn has better material or are better talented musicians than Disturbed", As I am sure that most musicians would tend to agree.

I never was erabarassed to own up to the music that I liked, or liked before. Im less idependent and or influenced by not listening, when others suggest that my taste in music is not up to their standard of what is good music, and all that matters is what style of music each individual likes personally, Im not in high school and don

They had such a unique sound going for them at the time. I love the way they played their guitars, especially Fieldy's loose bass strings. Introing 'Shoots and Ladders' with bagpipes, I mean it's pretty cool stuff. 'Ball Tongue' is my favorite...

Sepultura, Shootyz Groove, Biohazard? I can't think of a ton of examples, but I just remeraber when I first heard Korn in 1995 my reaction was "oh it's kind of cool to hear this type of band using bagpipes in a song". So apparently the style of music didn't seem like particularly new territory to me at the time.
