Knot under eye

Good Morning! I have had a slight knot under my eye for the last week, it just seemed to me as a bad pimple at first, however it has been a week now and it is not going away. Last night before going to bed i tried putting a warm towel over it to help it go away. This morning when i woke up, it was double in size, is now obstructing my vision, and is extremely swollen. My eye is not completely swollen, but i am scared that it will become that way. Once again, this is under my eye, about 3/4 of an inch. Has anyone else ever encountered this, and if so, what can i do?

it could actully be a couple of different thing that could also be a viral or bacterial based issue too. styes are a very common thing to have pop in right directly under and even right along the eye itself, or in one of the corners? sometimes heat can make everything kind of come to a 'head' and pop and drain, or it can do what yours did(but i would have actually done what you did too). i would definitely see your doc about this today if possible? it is now obstructing your vision and that alone just needs some attention here. it may go away with compresses or it also may need some form of anti B to make it go away too? it would depend upon the bacterial vs viral thing actually. you just don't want to go into a weekend type situation without getting some type of real Dx and possible treatment for this, ya know? i would see my doc right now if this were me. you do really need to at least find out just for certain what this actually is too, along with any possible treatments recommended. its just kind of impossible to simply tell you what this actually is in this type of situation. hopefully something can be done for this to help make it go away for you more quickly. good luck, FB

FeelBad- Thank you so much! I took your advise and went to the doctor, he said that it was just a cyst, and that the area it was located was causing all the swelling. Thank You for your advise!

no problem, i am glad it was not serious and more importantly you DID see the doc to just have it evaluated. does he feel this is going to actually go away on its own or will he need to somehow actually drain it to make it go away? FB

Yes, he said that it would most likely go away on its own. It has went from the size of a quarter to about the size of my pinky finer tip. Hopefully in another week it will all be gone.
