Knocked Up

saw it last night and really enjoyed it - despite the humour, had some surprisingly serious and touching parts too. didn't overdo subplots in typically stereotypically ways - the characters were very well balanced and rounded out - with good and bad parts of each coming through pretty realistically.

even the minor characters were really good - her jealous colleague, the doorman at the club, the asian girlfriend...

put me far more in mind of Kevin Smith film than a typical US comedy - not one to be judged by it's cover and can definitely recommend it.

didn't realise that it was the same writer as the brilliant Freaks and Geeks.

I'm just back from seeing this, i really enjoyed it, but i found it more sweet than funny really, thought it would be funnier TBH, but it was good. And i liked the bit about the chairs as someones posted above, my favourite bit! :D
 
Listen up people I went to watch this film today and it's fantastic! Theres so many popular culture references in this and instead of just going for the typical gags this really does make you laugh out loud. You watch this and think dam imagine if that happened to me. The constant ribbing of the friend who grows his beard is genius. Theres loaRAB of good comedys coming to the cinema before the end of the year.:)
 
Didn't need to see the flange, prosthetic or no prosthetic.

Other than that it was well funny, but also what seemed to be the longest film ive ever seen.

I thought the star of the show was the woman who was the jealous colleague. She had me creased in both of her scenes.
 
I'm not usually into comedies, but I'm interested in this because of all the great reviews. It didn't sound that great to me! I love Kathrine Heigl, in Grey's Anatomy and Roswell. I think I'll wait for it to come out to rent though.
 
Same here! Absolutely hilarious, saying that i dont think there was one character that wasnt and this film was laugh out loud all the way through.
Ive seen this and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry in the space of a week and i have to say both are brilliant brilliant films that have made me laugh alot more than i have at a film in ages!
I thought Ben was also a really sweet character and his personality made him much more attractive as the film progressed.
 
Speaking of references, did anyone else catch the reference to "Swingers" when they were on the way to Vegas?

I loved the fantasy baseball scene too, I was the only one that laughed in the whole cinema re: getting matsui.

I loved it. Apart from the great script and the "real" conversations that you could imagine having yourself, most of all I loved how you could understand each character's point of view of their situations. Usually when there's a straight man playing against a clown, one is made to look like a stuck-up snob and the other a complete fool depending on the scene. These characters were much more human and well rounded.
 
Anything comedy that has any of the freaks and geeks gang involved in is comedy gold, if you like "Knocked Up" look out for "Superbad" out next Friday and next year's "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"
 
it was alrite... jeez nothin to rave about, i would reccommend it strongly to anyone who would pay money to see it...
 
Just been to see it, and absolutly loved it, whilst it didn't really have me in near wetting myself style laughter, the laughs were consistant and funny enough for me to rate it very highly, though tbh I love Paul Rudd and Seth Rogan anyways after seeing them in 'The 40 year old Virgin'.

Funnily enough though, and i wasn't expecting this from a comedy, I really did like the other side of the plot with the more serious stuff with the relationship building, something that i don't usually like in comedies, but yeah it is a definite DVD buy when it comes out.

I thought it was good, very funny, but a bit too long. There was that scene which was disgusting though, i was a bit shocked to see that in the cinema!
 
Thought it was a great film...Funny as hell in places, serious in others, a great story...yep a great film...The poster above perhaps neeRAB a sense of humour, for falling asleep during this film...
