Knightley in talks for 'My Fair Lady'

Pygmalion was filmd in 1938, with Leslie Howard as Higgins, and Wendy Hiller s Eliza. I thought it strange that they filmed it in the modern dress of those times. Especially as Shaw was still alive and must have given it his full approval. I can't remember seeing it but it did get raves, as did the two marvellous actors. For those who may not know Howard, the following year he played Ashley Wilkes in Gone With the Wind.

I'm with you on that one,
If your lucky enough to be able to visit the theatre often esp if you are near to a big city with many theatres then you can probably appreciate the play or opera whatever the dress.

If you get one chance and one chance only to see a play you want to see it as traditionally performed.

If you have seen 20 performances already then the quirkyness of an unusual modern production may well breath new life into an old favourite.

I just read on Wikipedia that George Clooney and Brad Pitt were fighting over the role of Higgins but Daniel Day Lewis has been cast. I'm hoping this is all a joke. That film should NOT be remade - they might aswell remake The Sound of Music, Grease, The Godfather and Star Wars!!!
