Hmm, another Kahn plot. We'll see how this plays out.
 
Haha, Kahn is probably more insecure than Bill to be honest. Loved the Pocky in the background of the asian grocery store, and that is always the one song people sing during karaoke for some reason.

Bill: "Kahn, you've got a rainbow in your mouth. Open it and share it with the world."
 
A usual KoftH episode, not bad but nothing great about it. This show lost its appeal with me quite a few years ago and I'm pretty "meh" about it.
 
To be honest. I like Kahn's feeling superior to the "redneckhillbilly" neighbors. I also don't mind him having problems with "betters" people as he tries to be on top and doesn't quite make it. But to be praised for karioki is a bit far fetched. It's supposed to be silly and laughed at. The only reason it's fun is because you're as drunk as everyone else and you can laugh at them too. It's not,,, and never will be a country club thing. If a show is going to use stereo types, they need to get them right.
 
True it's the way they use their insecurities that separates them. Bill uses his to beat himself up mentally, to make himself feel worse then he really is, even to the point where he is self destructive when he ends up in a good relationship.

Khan on the other hand uses deals with his by acting superior over everyone in his neighborhood. His stepfather makes him feel so insignificant that the way he deals with it is to act superior to his neighbors, even when they are trying to be his friends as seen in this episode.

Kahn seems to be handling his problems better then Bill but it is in some ways just as self destructive in the long run.
 
Kicking myself for missing the first 5 minutes. I love the fact they clearly have someone working on the show that enjoys otaku culture. That, the Kameha Meha wave one of the "Wizards" did (that episode where Bobby buys Tarrot Cards), and the little Doraemon Lollipop the little Japanese girl held in the one they went to Japan. Woulda been the first time I saw Pocky referenced in an American cartoon.

Anyway, saw the second half of the episode and loved it. I love seeing Kahn as more than just a stereotype that thinks he's better than everyone else ( either an Asian guy stereotype, or my take on it, a northener that thinks everyone in the south is a hillbilly). There's a method to his anger. He wants to be superior because the General thinks he's a failure at everything.

I especially loved Dale's quote: In the world of karaoke, taking a man's song is like stealing his woman...and then making love to her as everyone in the room hears and looks on." (or something to that effect).
