King Arthur

I went to see this film last night and I'm sorry to say I was highly disappointed. This is one of the few films where I have looked foward to the end. The plot was predictable, you didn't really get to know the Knight's characters and when
2 of the Knights get killed, I wasn't even bothered. I was like "ah well........"
. For a film that lasted 2 - 1/2 hours, not a lot seemed to happen, it touched on a lot of different subjects but as soon as it got onto a subject, it moved onto something else (most subjects and ideas where all mostly sickly sweet clich

I agree with you so much it scares me. I went to see this last night and I couldn't believe it was so bad. I think I only stayed to the end because I was frozen in disbelief at how dreadful it was.
The acting was appalling, I've seen better in a primary schools Christmas play by 5 year olRAB. What Keira Knightly was thinking of accepting that part I don't know. The script was awful. As for the Saxons, yes how many Saxons do you know with an American accent??? as for the son of the Saxon king, what was with the accent, the total lack of talent, why did he have to whisper everything????the supposed Roman elitest family?? the battle scenes, it just got worse and worse with every passing moment. The end was so saccarine it would give you diabeties. I felt like asking UCI for my money back it was so bad.

It wasn't the saxons that resided in Scotland, it was Merlins 'Men' that lived North of Hadriens Wall. The Saxons were invading the whole island.

They went north of Hadrian's wall to rescue the Romans there, picked up Keira Knightly and went south towarRAB H.W. again and were chased by the "saxons". My knowledge of geography has the saxons in Scotland in order for this to happen. South of H.W. was free of "saxons" according to the film.

No no don't go and see it, its awful. In my first post I also forgot to say that at times (most of the time anyway) the army of Saxons looked like Orks that didn't make it into Lord of the Rings and thats saying a lot. Also what was the point of Keira Knightley in the leather thong bikini to wage war?? Why, it was stupid and didn't do her any favours either. As a girl I can safely say it would probably be the least comfortable thing in the world to wear never mind to fight a battle in.

I thought it was a great romp, thoroughly enjoyable. And before you lecture me on the historical inaccuracies , I viewed the film as an interpretation not fact, Athurian legend is just that, legend. You wont find two historians agreeing on anything about King Arthur.

The only critisism I would level at it was the wooden acting occasionally and the Saxon general with the American accent.

Not at any point did I think the Saxons had been made to look like orcs, their outfits looked pretty authentic, perhaps orcs had been modelled after the saxons? Think about it.

The cinematography and effects were very well done and the battle scenes among the best I've seen on screen. I'll be buying the DVD and it will sit very comfortably with the rest of films in this genre.

Overall, very good film with a few niggly annoyances.

Well you enjoy your DVD when you get it. I'd say you'll be able to pick it up cheaply enough too as so few people will be forking out cash for it they'll have to drop the price.
I know the story is just a legend and it may just be an interpretation which anyone is free to have. It was the acting that I had a major problem with, I think it was dreadful, especially considering the amount of money that went into making it. When I said the Saxon army were LOTR Ork rejects I meant it because of the "terrifying" grunting they were coming out with while marching into battle, they were one dimensional................I could just go one forever about how bad I thought this movie was. But you enjoyed it I didn't looks like we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Personally I liked the way the film tied in our true history with Arthurian legend, but unfornately its the rest of the film that lets it down.

The Saxons were invading through Scotland... This is why you had a good five minutes showing them landing and doing their killing and burning thing...
Enjoyed the film, thought Arthur was a bit boring, loved KK's skimpy war outfit :)
Not really a fan of the King Arthur stuff, so as a neutral, I have to say it is a decent film with a few funny moments, and the usual bit of lust, action, and sentimental American stuff thrown in for good measure.
