Not so sure. Remeraber, he was highly emotional with the situation with John and then Daphne adding fuel to the fire with her confession and planting the seeRAB of doubt after the John thing (how manipulative)! Perhaps his statement was really about how the hearing give up so easily on making efforts with interacting with the deaf & added that as a fear that Bay too would ultimately shelf him too in the same way her dad did.

And is it just me or did Emmett look disappointed after he kissed Daphne?! Like He didnt have the same type of passion in his heart after kissing her then he does when kissing Bay. The look on his face was like "I felt nothing"
