Kinda gross and TMI...but...

I just ate some pasta...and within a few minutes, I had to run to the bathroom...and I had really bad diarrhea...like mostly liquid...but little bits of the pasta in it...like the tomato chunks and pepper pieces and stuff floating in the toilet. >.< this has happened a few times before...is it normal? If not, what causes it?

Sorry this is so gross. :(

Your stomach dumped too early if the food was undigested and from the same meal. Just how often does this happen? It would be best to see a GI doctor for this. If your food doesn't digest properly you can get very sick because you'll not be getting the nutrients you need.

I don't know...it usually happens if I eat like fast food or something...which is why I don't eat it. And it happens a lot if I eat lettuce for some reason. LOL or maybe I just notice it more b/c it floats >.< but unless I'm really constipated, I have diarrhea a few times a week, at least...but I don't usually pay a lot of attention to if the food has digested or not...b/c well, it's gross. LOL

Will it result in weight loss? LOL I just had blood work done today for something else but my doctor is checking my b12 and folate levels as well as a BMP which I guess checks my electrolytes, kidney function, creatinine and blood sugar. (I think?)

Since fast foods and higher fiber raw veggies (lettuce) usually cause this, you may want to have your gallbladder checked out just in case - though, mine never caused undigested food to pass, just diarrhea shortly after eating.

And yes, if you have diarrhea enough you will lose weight. One reason will be because you're dehydrated. Your electrolytes will start looking horrible on blood tests, too, as your body flushes those out. So you really do not want this to continue to the point where you have diarrhea several times a week.

Don't be too embarrassed over this. Sure it's gross but that's how your body lets you know something isn't right. Don't be worried about discussing it with your doctor - they hear worse and this could make you very sick.

Was there some meat in the pasta dish? It could be a touch of food poisoning. Was it a white sauce or a red sauce? Are you lactose intolerant? I know sometimes tomato skins can also cause some bowel trouble, but certainly NOT that quickly. I think I'd stay away from pasta until you figure this out.

There was hamburger in it but my mom ate it too and she didn't get sick or anything. And it was red sauce..that kind they sell in jars with little bits of veggies in it...carrot and pepper pieces...and I'm not lactose intolerant.
