On the way to a mission, whoops! sideswiped a cruiser, run from cops.

I can't play this repetitive bullshit anymore. I haven't touched it in over a week, and couldn't even do a half hour today.

Anyone else sick of the same shit over and over and over again?

The cops do seem to be much harder to avoid in this one. I liked the less frequent encounters of past GTA's better.

harder to get away from compared to what? In the last games not only did you have to evade them but you couldn't get rid of them without getting the starts to remove one star at a time until you had 1 star that would fade away if you evaded.

If you played any of the GTAs before this one you know that it gets repetitive . But GTA4 makes it feel as if each mission is different in its own way.

like from when i first started the game, just seems like the cops are around every corner and harder to get away from, not during a mission tho, they are very easy to escape during a mission.

i mean like im driving to go and get a mission clip a cop or kill a walking cop and its been getting a bit harder to shake the cops. but i think i figured it out, i have to take different streets and such, i was just going straight trying to out run them

Escaping 3 stars is a sinch, 4+ can be more a bitch. And yeah, use your map to see where they are and change streets often to avoid them. It is really really simple.

Also I have noticed that if you lose them but they are still after you (gray stars) you can actually steal a car and drive right past the cops obeying all street laws (stop for lights, follow traffic, etc). And as long as you don't do anything to draw their attention, and look like some random npc in the game they won't spot you; though this is usually more of a pain in the ass then it is worth.

Just use the mini map. Get away from the first batch, and while you're driving make turns to avoid upcoming cruisers. Easy enough for 4 stars or less.

taxis make this game. if it wasn't for the fact that you move from one side of the map to another, it would really bring the game down a lot.

in fact, making friends like you is easier with cabs.

a) get in cab
b) call friend
c) pick up friend
d) find another cab (this part can kinda suck)
e) go do something
f) get a cab home.

depending on how long it takes you to get a cab, an entire "date" can last less than 2-3 minutes.

You can skip paying all together if you shoot your gun when in the cab before you get to the destination.
