So what if he did leave the camera to linger, which in all honesty I really can't see where he did, if you watch alot of QT movies you should have been aware years ago he does what he likes, thus why his style is unique and he is acclaimed, his movies are HIS movies, he has always had drawn out detail and character development, I think your just abit miffed because you expected a 2 hour long samurai fight as before, his an independent film maker, that rarely answers to the studio, they don't go to him and ask him for a big movie blah de blah with gore n shit blah de blah, he makes the movies in his own time and at whatever length..so he can be as overly artistic and drawn out..to his hearts content....the benefits of being independent!, sorry you didn't like the dialogue in the second film, I mean god forbid he make anything like his normal material..some people just can't stand all that "chit chat" short attention spans and all...nevermind tho, I'm sure when they realise they didn't make THAT much money out of a successful TWO movies, they will go directly to you for the sequel, or apparent spin off, you certainly don't seem inept at all at the art of making film....*see sarcasm* :rolleyes:



Eurgh.... :p anyways I'm done defending the film, obviously is no way you'll concede no matter how much sense is blabbed off, since as you stated your looking for a "fight" and will more than likely argue till your blue in the face :D
 
Well I did say that I was looking for an argument not a "fight" - I just started the post the way I did to encourage some sort of debate around here - looking at your post count I'm assuming that you are fairly new to rabroad and haven't seen the gradual decline of the film board as the run of fresh movies started to dry up during the studio "LoTR-is-out-we-can't-make-money-against-this" phase.
Just nice to spark a bit of an argument - I'm glad to see that the passion for films around here hasn't just died :) It's not a 'war of worRAB', and my implication through the first post was that people would like the film and we would get a good heated discussion going about it through my difference of opinion. Usually lala is the first to offer a good ol' rant, but she's not been around much recently :(

Miramax is owned by Disney - not an overly independent studio if you ask me. I'd hate to speculate as to whether he 'answers to the studio' or not. I'm not a Hollywood executive, but he does seem to be 'flexible' when it comes to tearing his artistic vision into two pieces ;)



You seem to think that this is purely my own slow ramblings - other audiences members and critics alike have also found the dialogue contrived and dull...

mwnn - I have provided a reason or two as to why I felt it was shallow: Yes - there are far, far worse out there, but I was pretty sick of people calling the film "deep" when there was little else but surface gloss: I suppose it all comes down to your opinion as to when you feel the line is crossed between artistic and simply 'paint by numbers' (My distain for the 'deep' moment in the crowd scene with 'girl in red' in "Schindler's List" rears it's ugly head again...)

Films I like? A bit of this, bit of that - I'd hate to tie myself down to a favourite or 'Top 10', as it always depenRAB on the mood I'm in as to what I'd like to watch.
Sometimes I feel a bit arty-farty and a little 'Koyaanisqatsi' or 'Metropolis' is nice - othertimes nothing suits me better than a good ol' burst of 'T2' or 'Die Hard'...

Yes I'm new to posting on this site, but not new to reading on this site, No I don't need to be taught the art of emoticons, nope I wasn't trying to teach you how to suck eggs grandma!!, thats a filthy habit a filthy habit indeed!! such etiquette is disgraceful! :D my point was his an independent filmmaker, so he has freewill to make whatever he likes however he likes and does hence the "overly arty" stuff and he has stated in interviews that he does not answer to studios..altho regarding miramax rumour has it they did stress concern about putting out a 4 hour long movie so he probably conceded hell I would if I got all that money it, my point wasn't to do with the studio which he cashes his movies in with anyway (everyone neeRAB a studio)
I still think that maybe you went in expecting another 2 hour revenge fest and got bogged down with its QT normalicy....I don't think there just your ramblings, but the majority on this forum alone, as well as those people in the big wide world, have really liked this film...hence its box office takings so on and so forth...I wouldnt say the film is deep myself either, again it was a homage film, with noRAB to the old days of cinema...and a few piss takes here and there to them as well...Oh..and not noticed the decline in the film boarRAB yet..bit sparse maybe...but yeah I'm passionate about me films! :D
 
Well we all have expectations about films, but I really wasn't going into watching it expecting to see Uma Thurman slashing and hacking people down as the first film!

In fact, I was looking forward to a more lingering pace after the choppy style of the first - with a nice bit of character development and backstory with Bill/Bride - it was just unfortunate that neither of these things (in my opinion of course) happened. Where did they start this 'DIVAS' thing? Where's the background about the life of 'The Bride' pre-gang days - what made her want to join? Was it the attraction of a man old enough to be her father? :D OK, he couldn't do EVERYTHING but I was hoping for something a little more revealing - a little like O-Ren's story in the first volume.
