Kids Without Cable Have It Bad

HA!

When I lived in South Africa, I went through two years with out satelite/cable!
At least here, at least here you have more English options.

I can imagine.

People say that Nick and Disney killed network cartoons, but the reality is that they've been around since the 1980s. The difference nowadays is that Nick and Disney aren't making Saturday mornings a big deal. Back in the day Saturday mornings was a big deal cause you got new episodes of many of your favorite cartoons.

That too. It seems like both channels have only a handful of shows that they air all day and everyday. I remember a time when Nick, for example, had like 20-25 different shows that they'd air everyday.

Kids without cable don't necessarily have it bad, but they are missing out on a lot of great stuff.

I never got sick of seeing the same thing again. I don't know why, I just didn't.

Like I haven't walked into that opinion too like a bad cobweb. Still, I won't support a show because the mill cranks 'em out. I cursed it mostly because it kept marathoning over the one and only time of the week I could watch WITCH and Oban on ABCFam. But really Monkey force got just as much of my ire for the same reasons.

I also agree that a pre-cable existence is hard and I'm only lost in a Digital-restricted sect. Still, I watch a few network E/I shows on Saturday on purpose.

Well I think kids without cable have other means to entertain themselves. I think they have books, video games, and going outside and hanging out with their friends. With digital distributon and some site, they can watch the shows. If they don't have home internet access they can go to the library to do so.

Sure they might be left out for most things, but with other means, they can make friends and entertain themselves.

You'd think parents would get upset at the programmers for putting on those (sometimes) sleazy afternoon talk and court shows after school and demand they put on more "Acceptable" programming, but then we'd probably just get either even more pitiful attempts at "edutainment" or hours upon hours of public domain toons or stuff thats so bad it could be bought cheaply (ie, early 90s DIC).
