kidney stone

I went into the ER last friday due to intense pain and They had told me I had a kidney stone, and a UTI. They gave me pain meds and antibiotic then sent me home. I have not been in that type of pain since. I have been uncomfortable but not in any pain. I also have been straining my urine. I have not found any thing. What do I do. Im drinking lost of water and cranberry juice. But nothing is turning up.

Keep drinking lots of fluids and finish your antibotics. Did they say were the kidney stone was-high up by the kidney or down low by the pelvis. If you do not have anymore pain, than most likely the stone passed without you knowing it, however, typically you would know because it hurts when you pass it and you typically would see some blood. The other possible case of your not having anymore pain is that the stone may have popped back into your kidney. The pain that you experience is the stone blocking the tube that runs from your kidney to your bladder.
Make a follow-up appointment with your primary care doctor. This appointment should be shortly after you finish your antibotics.

How do you know you have a kidney stone if you are not in pain?
I am a kidney stone machine. The small ones pass through fairly easily. I have had 3 that the pain has been so bad I've had to go to the hospital for pain control. The last one of these was stuck in my uter for 3 months. I had pain and bleeding quite a bit. During this time there were endless trips to doctors and tests...... them telling me I had a bladder infection and me telling them I had a kidney stone. Tests confirmed every time there was no infection. I finally got to a urologist who told me that after that long it was not likely to come out on it's own. Four days latter I had surgery to remove it.
I know that some people have stones but they just sit there and never pass. Maybe you will be one of those lucky ones!

I was told buy having a ct scan that I had a kidney stone. I was in so much pain. I was screaming for help in the ER. They gave me pain meds and the pain got better after that was the scan. I came home and the pain went away. I do not want this thing in my bladder if that is where it is. I know it did NOT pass. The ER doc said it will feel like having a small baby. I have had 2 kids and I know what that feels like. I have not had blood in my urine except to give a sample but not when I came home. I see my doc tomorrow and i'm sure there will be tests done.

When the intense pain happens, that means the stone is traveling. That is what makes it so painful. You probably still have the stone but it is sitting in you urthea. When is stops moving you will feel no pain. Most people can feel when the stone is being passed. Keep drinking as much as you can and move around a lot. That helps with the passing of it. Sometimes you will need it surgically removed, which is no big deal. Keep your eyes open for any kind of infection because then you can get very sick with high fevers. Good luck.
