kickstand sinking

That's what I was going to suggest, kickstand pads. I ride dirt bike as well, CRF 450X. It comes with a kickstand. When I need to stop in soft dirt, or sand, I would use my riding glove(s) as a kickstand pad. The other suggestion would be to keep a hand towel under you seat. You can use it as well by fold it up 2 to 3 times. Good luck.

Thanks, my buddies and I did it as a reaction to my then two day old 01 750SS sinking half way into the fresh pavement of a mall. We just brazed it on and sprayed it with some black tremclad, we never thought it would last more than a few weeks. Next winter if I get a piece of aluminum and one of my friends with a TIG together I might make one for the 1098, mostly so I have something to catch my foot on. I usually fumble to get the kickstand down as it's pretty well recessed in the faring.

I can see this piece of nerd gear melting onto the hot asphalt around here. Then you gotta fidget to get it to fit just right. Yeah, that "textured surface" is going to really hold onto the foot of the sidestand. Won't work on gravel. All this for the low price of $8.

but hey, it looks cool.

I like the crushed soda can idea, but the duck foot is the epitome.

Actually what you mention it true. I haven't used the piece of crap I bought much. I ended up having to lay on a piece to sticky stair tread stuff from Home Depot on both sides for it to work better.

I like the crows foot the best though...

Get a thicker guage piece of aluminum or steel and keep it in your back pocket. Or, put in under your seat in the little tool pouch. Wood can split, so I dont recomment that. Plus, aluminum or steel is thinner and lighter; easier to store. A piece of thick plastic would work, also. I had one of those pucks above, but I found it to be too large to fit in my tool box on my monster.
