Kick Ass!

Love, love, loved Kick-Ass, and I do agree with the poster who said earlier that if Tarantino had made this it would have had a much better reception. I think probably is made for film geeks and comic book fan boys but so what?? I thought it was great and I am going to see it again, if only for Hit Girl!!

No no no no no.... that first scene was imho a critical mistake. What it clearly established - to me at least - is that she was gorgeous and in the popular-girl-set at school. There was a mistake, but her reaction was to roar her head off laughing with her girl-friend - "as I've I'd call that loser GORGEOUS?!" If she'd really been sweet and altruistic, that reaction would have been awkward or embarrassed laughter, not laughing AT him. And that first impression is absolutely critical in a movie.

The other problem, as others have pointed out here, was the "gay" plot. That was really dumb. It puts her character in a bad light cos she looks so stupid. There was zero evidence that KA was gay, and yet she believes it just cos she was told. She didn't even attempt to eek out the truth for herself. At the very least, I'd want an acknowledgement that when she finRAB out the truth, she felt stupid.

All round, she was a very weak character. All she was really there for was to be gorgeous (which admittedly she was) so we're happy for KA when he gets her, and to motivate the later story point that he now cares for someone for the first time. She could - and should - have been so much more.

Loved it, last minute choice since Shutter Island was sold out, probably the best film I've watched since Inglorious.

Brilliant characters, brilliant story, solid acting, overall just great. 9/10

to be fair, i think that's just artistic licence.

IMO worth it for the end result - which really was beautifully cinematic - in particular the scene where
Hit Girl rescued BD and KA
.

and a lot of the action was well directed / edited to almost kind of mimic the way the eye would scan around a graphic novel - in particular the scene where BD
burnt down the warehouse
. i thought that was well done, and made it stand apart from stuff by Woo.

Saw this the other night and absolutely loved it, most fun I've had at the cinema for ages. And all with no stupid plastic glasses on my face. The way this film came into being is a real lesson to Hollywood on how sometimes they haven't a clue what audiences want.

My personal favourite reference was the mid-air reload during that book-case gunfight, classic Jon Woo (mentioned at the start in Big Daddy's pop-quiz).

Recently saw this film and I thought it was great! The fight scene with Big Daddy was awesome.
Although, I thought it was a bit sad that Kick-Ass was just a normal guy and then at the end was basically a murderer... although those men DID deserve it.

Yeh, fun film! :D

That's all because overprotective parents don't want their kiRAB hearing American accents because they think their kiRAB will start talking like that.

BULLSHIT. Almost every show I watched when I was younger was American, and I don't talk like that!

saw this tonight and after Reading the Graphic Novel it is Bloody brilliant the comedy elements are there and Hit Girl is AWESOME!!! Kick Ass is wicked i enjoyed every minute of it.

i loved it just because, for what it was, was so well executed. the pace was spot on, it had a better plot than i thought it might, and the big set piece scenes were shot with such joie de vivre, they were literally thrilling, and the whole thing from start to finish was just about as much fun a film as i've seen in a long time.

That reviewer is going way OTT with his comments about Hit-Girl, IMO. And the actress playing Gogo in Kill Bill was probably 18 or so when the film was shot so whats his point?

absolutely brilliant.

really enjoyed it very much. best film i have seen in ages.
i hope its a hit - (as i believe there is some controvsary around with it)

that Hit Girl was so funny!!! by far one of the better child actors i have seen around.

Dexter Flecther's death made me wince!
