Kick Ass!

I loved these bits too. I also loved the way Kiss thought those guys who were beating up that man. He was just randomly striking out at them with his batton hopping to hit them. Just like me when I play fighting games on the computer:D
 
The trailer did nothing to sell the film to me so I am really glad my daughter talked me into checking it out at the Local cinema last night
like most other comments in this thread I think it is a great movie I laughed so much I nearly wet my self
the 'Hitgirl' scenes are just pure class
I dont give 10/10 for movies ever - but this gets 9/10 right up there with all my other favs

I urge you you to go check it out its great - roll on the blu ray

I saw it last night and it was even better than I was hoping for it to be, its very very funny and there's a lot of violence, way more than I was expecting also a lot of swearing, when we were coming out I heard someone say they were very surprised it was only a 15.

Hit Girl is just amazing, definitely the best character, I think she was supposed to be 11 and it seemed most of the swearing and violence came from her, it was a bit freaky though to see her fighting in this school uniform and pigtails.

I know people who went who said they didn't think it was that good so I think its a film where you either love it or you hate it but the majority seemed to love it.
 
Did i ever say that nobody under 15 would see it? No. It's rated 15 in places where people are supposed to see it, this is precaution enough for the Daily Mail's argument to be invalid. If the Daily Mail want to take on the pirates or irresponsible parents for letting underage kiRAB watch it then they can be my guest. Maybe then they'd stop trying to ruin entertainment for responsible adults...

And pirate video?!? You're living in the past man, kiRAB are all about the torrents these days, and good luck combatting that. But what are we supposed to do? only make films that are suitable for all ages just because kiRAB might gain access to it? No thanks.
 
Errr...he wasn't 'like a hero'. He set up the 'heroes' and even shot one of them.

After the big showdown he turns up at the end.

it actually opens 2nd april

the screenings this friday, saturday and sunday are advance screenings only and in some cases are only in the evening
 
Enjoyed the film, nic cage ('child') really annoyed me as usual but that can be overlooked
(must admit i cringed to hear such a young girl say the c word but i do realise it was for shock effect)
 
Loved the film, but preferred the ending of the book.

Also I thought the Big Daddy Motivation was handled better in that as well.

Still recommended.
 
:eek: No, seriously. Just seen it.

Take a bit of Superbad, a dash of Spiderman and some action from TDK and you get Kick-Ass. Plus it's really funny in parts.

Has a great soundtrack too. I won't spoil it by saying too much but if you get a chance to see the early screenings this weekend go see it.

Somebody erase my memory a la Eternal Sunshine so I can see it again tomorrow.:D
 
I saw a preview showing a couple of weeks back and loved it. Went to see it again last night and it was even better the second time - best film I've seen in ages 10/10
 
That is exactly why she was 11, It was supposed to be shocking but mostly funny in a dark humour kind of way.
Unfortunately that only works for certain people. As has been mentioned on many boarRAB. Hearing a kid that young say the "C" word is nothing in the UK it's quite common on housing estates etc. That word is getting used more and more in films and on TV so is slowly becoming less shocking.
The violence doesn't shock for many people because it's so OTT and comic book.

I think this film tried to be too clever and too cool for it's own good and that is why it has failed on so many levels. A lot of the people that rave about it also rave about similar type of action films that don't have a kid in it. For example, The Crow. When that came out people were talking about the action scences, it's dark, moody etc.
Give it a few years and another will come along to do exactly the same thing again for the next generation.
 
Yes, I meant I wanted to see more of Red Mist than Kick Ass. I know he set them up but he seemed more believable as his role of pretend superhero, if that makes sense.

I thought it was fantastic. It succeeded in not only the same ways that Watchmen did, but crucially it also succeeded in all the ways that Watchmen failed.
