Chloe used the c-word in the way we would use it in Britain but not America. Its a strong word but stronger when aimed at women.
No way would she use that line, maybe if she was older in her 20s.
Thought:
Is the film a kind of anti-superhero film? Kick-Ass thinks all you have to do is put on a costume etc to be a hero, and gets beaten up so badly, in some scenes the film doesnt shy away from showing the consequences of violence, and that you'd have to be a total idiot to do what Kick-Ass does (at least with no training).
Chloe Moretz gives an assured performance veering between normal sweetness and pure badassness, its actually really cute in places, that
despite she hasnt had a real childhood because of her father's quest for vengeance, she wants to be a normal kid too, and go bowling and stuff, and she still loves her father
I was surprised in a way the ending was so "happy" with a nice resolution... for some anyway.
What happened to Red Mist? I thought right at the end he'd help Kick-Ass or something, he was more like a hero than Kick-Ass.
South Park is rated 15 in the UK and rightly so (i'm a huge fan of it myself) and Watchmen is rated 18 but parents will still let their kiRAB watch them because a) it's just a cartoon b) it's just a comic book movie like superman.
As CJ states, the movie is not marketed as R/15 and is not for kiRAB, even if it is a comic superhero kung fu type movie.
This film, as with others which the same uprising stars, are for 15+ even if some of the stars are young and swearing profusely and contain comic violence (as in Role Models, Superbad etc.)
the three big action sequences with Hit Girl, especially the one where she did the rescue, out Tarantinoed Tarantino, and were things of great cinematic beauty.
just saw this , it was enormous fun and one of those rare experiences whee the audience are audibly enjoying it tremendously .
Hit-Girl is an absolute legend , where did they find this actress , just brlliant .
the only downside I'd say was the dull 'romance' between Kick-Ass and that girl , she could've been left out as soon as they'd mined the homosexual gags with her .
