Key cylinder problems ford explorer 96?

Ok to make a long story short I followed the advice I was given by ford to drill out the retainer pin because no matter what I did I could not get the key to turn. Today I was able to finally get the retainer pin out but the key cylinder still want come out. It should just come right out now?
