KEWLopolis (Sat. Block) isn't that bad..

So I had some freetime this morning and I was browsing around channels looking for some cartoons. I usually watch CW4Kids, but today I checked out CBS' block, KWELopolis. And actually, it dosen't seem all that bad.

Yeah most of the shows are educational, but some of the show concepts are interesting. I'm liking this "Sushi Pack" show and the "Dino Squad' show seems like it could be fun. There is also this new Care Bears series that I thought was kinda cute.

The bumpers are cool (though I'm guessing they only have like five of them since they repeat so much) and the main theme is already stuck in my head. Maybe with like two non educational cartoons, it'd be a really good block.

Anyone know if CBS is planning to keep the block around?

It's been on for a while. I only get CBS but even then I can't watch most of it, since it's dripping with Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake and magical horses. Cake is an amusing kidcom with an interesting premise, though, and some educational content woven in with do-it-yourself home craft segments.

I haven't seen much else on the block aside from Cake and Dino Squad, myself, but I really like Dino Squad. I don't watch it often since it usually conflicts with something on CW4Kids (and the air times seem very schizophrenic from week to week on our affiliate), but with Huntik and the like starting into reruns, I'll probably be more able to watch it every weekend.

Cake isn't for me, but it didn't strike me as being terrible. Sushi Pack doesn't look half terrible, either. At first glance, the block as a whole isn't anything I'd call "great", but "not bad" seems to fit the bill nicely. It's a hell of a lot better than the "Disney-lite with Power Rangers randomly tacked on the end" block ABC Kids has going for it.

Cake being good? It got boring after the first few episodes since the kids weren't that funny and I wished that there were more characters than those four.

Dino Squad? One word: terrible. Dinosaur King's better than this show. I just didn't like the whole Animorph storyline with kids becoming dinosaurs since it was a bit of a rip-off, the theme song's nothing memorable even though it's stuck in my mind, and there's waaaaay too much everyday learning lessons that we've been seeing/hearing in other kid shows for decades.

Sushi Pack gets the same rap as Dino Squad. Nothing memorable yet I was holding out hope for the show to get better. It was also annoying that everytime they save the day, they all scream out "Sushi Pack!" I know that it's a kiddie show for kids under 5, well it looks like one, but it could've been a heck of a lot better.

As for the rest of the shows on Kewlopolis, they can just be thrown away from TV since it's been rerun central since the Saturday Secret Slumber Party block with the now-dyfunct Slumber Party Girls.

I don't think DIC won't make a lot of good animated series since their time has come and gone. Now when are we getting that Inspector Gadget re-imagining? Hope we won't have the D.L. Hughley-talking Gadgetmobile or anyone trying to sound like him.

I tried to watch it but it made my eyes bleed and the stink all over this Cartoon made me hold my nose an run. really I mean AGAIN with this Teens in School trasform thing. this is really getting OLD fast with ALL THIS TEEN/SCHOOL Stuff. this whole Teen thing has made me STOP watching Cartoons all together.

Like they dont think people would watch anything with Adults and 25 + an up in them anymore. come on. not buying it,not being part of this anymore. it is soon to come to A halting end. as more our wanting ADULTS in the roles of Cartoons Again like Darkwing Duck,Taslespin,Chip N Dale RR, Pinky and The Brain,Road Rovers, Earthworm Jim,Swatkats,ThunderKats most Hanna Barbrea/Ruby Spears/Dic/Nelavana.

(I cant say Freakazoid since he was A Super Teen Extrodinare, but that amount of Teen stuff including Sonic Satam, Mighty Max, Highlander, Xyber 9 - New Dawn and Invasion America in the past I could handle; BECAUSE Their was BALANCE IN CArtoons back then more,an the Teens ACTED MORE MATURE like Adults to; unlike now)

till this changes back to BALANCE Between the Adult and Teen in the Roles of Cartoons created an Made comes back in View an Awarance to me an other cartoon fans; i'll stick to not watching the newer Cartoons and to my Own Cartoons I am making.

atleast with my own I Get Adult Charaters in the Roles an Im able to Have it how I want it,which is everything they dont have an never once had in them now an even some in the past never did to.

I only watch Sushi Pack and that's it. Sometimes, Adventures in Care-A-Lot for Guitly Pleasure.

Did anyone ever complained about, "So Once Again, The Day is Saved?"

I saw Dino Squad once. It reminded me of one of those late 80s/early 90s team action shows. You know, like Captain Planet or Street Sharks. It definately had Captain Planet's pro-environment morality message tacked on. Can't say I miss those shows.

I remember seeing the first episode of Dino Squad and I had kind of the same feeling from it. Even though I didn't see a lot of series from the 80s, it did have an early 90s vibe to it with the storyline and how there was always one of those everyday lessons things involved with it.

I also remember watching some show with girls and horses involved. It seemed more interesting than Dino Squad, but I'm not sure if that says too much. Granted, I don't know how much my opinion stands for something like this since I've only seen a couple of shows from this block.

Sat. Blocks would be so better without those live shows. They ain't even toons. Niether is Cake so why include something like that?

Though it's not very deep and kind of moralistic, Horseland is currently in it's third season and is up to 39 episodes for the series.

I prefer the daily block of toons on Discovery Kids more than the Kewlopolis block on CBS. Try those toons if you've never watched them.

I tried to watch Dino Squad a couple times and thought it was kind of boring for an action cartoon.

"Watch as these five amazing teenagers turn into dinosaurs and . . . kind of lumber about slowly for a while."

Oh well, the mileage of others may vary. And maybe the kids like it.

I have a guilty pleasure for Sushi Pack and Cake while a show not for me, I adore that asian chick! I think she pretty hot and I can say this because I'm a 40 yr old guy!:D
