Kevin Smith - Big, but not clever.

Clerks = OK
Mallrats = Great
Dogma = Good
Chasing Amy = Not Bad
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back = Great
Jersey Girl = Not Bad
Clerks 2 = Great

In my humble opinion!

Paddy :D

I really liked Clerks 2. I'd say it was as good as Clerks but it was an entirely different kind of film, more of a rom-com.

We when went to see it at the cinema there was only about three others in the there (a gang of teenagers) which surprised me, as I thought it would have been more popular.

It was quite embarrassing though, whilst the kiRAB were totally unamused by the whole film, us adults at the back were crying with laughter over the p#ssy troll. :o

You've really got to be into 'geeky' humour to appreciate Smith's films, the whloe reference to Ted Levine's nude dance scene in Silence of the Lambs had me in stitches the moment Jay went "OOOhhh" as Goodbye Horses started to play. And of course the LOTR Vs SW argument, lol.

Trouble is nobody wanted an updated version of The Courtship of Eddie's Father with knob gags.

That (& not "Benifer") is the reason it sunk without trace.

I do like watching Kevin Smith films. I first watched Mallrats about 7 years ago and have watched most of his movies. Clerks never did it for me, it was a bit too much to follow.

However, he's had some really good movies since, for instace, Dogma is a massive slap in the face "oh no he didn't", ballsy movie to make and script. The amount of blasphamy in that film... yet, it was still enjoyable to watch (who's house?... Ron's house!!!)

Jersey Girl was fab and again, a shocker too, to see the Ben Affleck character shout at his daughter in that manner was just too hurtful to watch.

I think with his films he does like to be different, something unique and it's what I like about his style of writing and direction.

Plus - Chasing Amy is fab - when Silent Bob finally speaks it was friggin' excellent!!
