I owned a KDC-mp335 back in the day and found in the stand by menue it said cd1 and cd2. Im pretty sure cd1 forced to play burned cd's and cd2 just took a few sec's if it didnt play it would stop. Also make sure the cd is finalized too.

Check the format of iTunes. If it's PCM, the CD player might not understand that. Maybe switch it to WAV or WMP. In the owner's manual that came with the Kenwood, it should tell you what the player likes.
