Keeping Up Appearances

My favourites are the QE2 episode and the one with the flat in the country. That's brilliant, when Emmett's head goes through the ceiling and they're all stuck in the 'kitchen-ette' :D

For those using Flickr - here is a picture of the slightly narrow (and slightly creepy) rail footbridge a short distance from Michell Close (Onslow's house in the show):

The area of Coventry known as Stoke Aldermoor, where this is located has another claim to fame. In the film The Italian Job - the mini's driving in the tunnel scene, was filmed underground during the construction of a large sewage pipe for the 'Sowe Valley Sewer Duplication system'. This lies underneath the housing estate.

I am just watching all 5 series back to back.

What are your favourite episodes?

The one with Mrs Fortesque is great as are the ones when she is singing. Brilliant.

Just rewatching series one on dvd atm can't believe it premiered this time 20 years ago:eek: Most of my favourite 90s comedies started in '90, KUA, Nightingales, Waiting For God, One Foot In The Grave...

That's really interesting Paul. I had been told that the tunnel scene was filmed at the sewage treatment works at Finham (a few miles away).

It is hard to believe it was 20 years since, but then again as much as I love it look's dated in some aspects and you can get the feel/tell it is dated. Still it was a really good comedy (though over the top) in parts but good mind.

I like your other choices of comedy you mention too Essexpete ... great choices :)

The second Rose(Mary Millar) died of cancer in '98. Feel the same way for Richard as I do for Margaret in One Foot In The Grave...

When I was first told that the woman who played Edna in Emmerdale had also played the original Rose in KUA I couldn't believe it. Talk about a character change and just goes to show what a good actress can do.

I love KUA - Hyacinth is meant to be a bit of a monster, I know, but she's not deliberately unkind, just so hell-bent on social climbing she doesn't realise how many toes she's treading on. And yes, the same jokes turn up in every episode, but there's a certain comfort in familiarity. :)

No, there were just the phone calls he made to Hyacinth and Richard always got mad 'cause he thought Sheridan was asking for money all the time.
