Keeping rescue chickens with woofy dogs - discuss!!?

Ive been thinking about taking in two or three ex battery chickens at home.

I have the space for it - can provide a proper coop and get someone to build a safe run. So none of that is an issue.

I have three rescue dogs (collie cross varieties) who are quite bright and will get used to them and they will be nice to other things when told to be and I think they will accept the chickens after a short while (well that bits fingers crossed)

My youngest dog is a bit woofy - when hes playing 'woof' chase me 'woof' excitement 'woof' its a bit sporadic and not 'woof woof woof woof woof' (unless a dog is walking on the other side of the fence!) but can be a bit much sometimes and does have me waggling a finger at him which has him tryyyinnng to shut up (he is greatly improved and we are getting there so not after anti woofing advice :o) ) but I am wondering how chooks (battery or otherwise) cope with this.

Do they just get used to it or do they jump out of their skin everytime your dog barks? I dont want to take chickens in and then give them a heart attack!

All three dogs also play in the garden (occasionally with a friend (supervised)) and run around at top speed playing and chasing each other (here comes the woofing again!)

All chickeny doggy people - what do you think?

Very interesting question, I am planning on getting chickens in the near future and never thought of the barking bothering them.

Make sure you have a completely predator proof run for the chickens, that way they should have no reason to be alarmed at the dogs getting them.

Watch how they react with loud noises, I know roosters can be super loud & that shouldn't bother them... hope to see more answers

Some dogs have a higher prey instinct and will be more interested in the chickens. I have 4 dogs. One shows no interest at all, one can go in the coop with me and the other two are chicken crazy and can't be trusted. So it all just depends on the dog. The barking really shouldn't be issue, my dogs are always running around playing and barking and my chickens have gotten used to it and don't show any abnormal fear. If you have a safe coop and run you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Enjoy your chickens they are a lot of fun!

Prepare for some homemade chicken.

Actually, scratch what I said. I don't understand your question and your.... story makes no absolute sense.
