Keeping it clean.

Guys,
Having invested some pretty sizeable wedge in making my 848 look the dogs swinging parts my problem is now how do I keep her clean.
My main concern is keeping the newly gold sprayed wheels, well gold. I was thinking of using a silicon based spray (WD40) to keep the grease and oil off of the rims so that they can be easily wiped clean with soap and water but I'm tres keen to know if anyone out there has come up with a better way around my problem....let me know.
Cheers

+1 on the Honda Clean....although, I believe they dont call it that anymore. It's still in a similar looking can, but what my honda guys told me was that since it has a questionable propellant (environmental)...that they don't want their name on it. Funny, but they still sell it....just not with the honda logo on it.

Either way....that stuff is the shite!

Wouldn't a wax/polish product work better? Like a polish that won't react to propellants or petrolium chemicals? Like Buffalo Milke? So the grit/tar/oil doesn't get a grip on the paint?

I start by pre-treating everything that picks up grime with simple green (ie. rims, brakes, swing arm areas, etc), then wash with McGuires car wash and rinse. Once rinsed, wipe everything dry with a new microfiber towel and use a leaf blower to get the water out of the crevices. Once completely dry, use PLEXUS and another microfiber towel to make her really stand out. I also use WD-40 and several rags to clean up the chain and re-apply maxima chain wax after every wash. Microfiber towels can be found at Costco;big ass bag and super cheap. These towels really do make a difference. Mike.

There are many products for cleaning as we know.
Chain grime on everything? You can spend a lot of money on advertised products. Or you can get something totally non glamorous that works well.

Mineral spirits. It's called paint thinner. Get a gallon at the hardware store for cheap. The store will likely have "paint thinner" under several brands.
A national distributed brand is Sunnyside. Read the can to assure that it is mineral spirits. Go to the housewares isle and get a big spray bottle. Squirt it on, let it soak for a minute and wipe the nasties off. It will dry quickly and won't discolor paint, damage plastic and so on.

Honda cleaner/polish or whatever they want to call it this week is the jazz.

I have used the Honda bright for years, not sure who carries it, having had nothing but Hondas the past years, I used to just pick it up at the dealer. For light to medium dirt, it is great. Takes an application or two extra, and a little elbow grease, to get chain lube off the swing arm/rear sprocket.

Yeah, at any Honda dealer.
I stocked up early last year as the word was that Honda was to discontinue it for fear of not having the "green corporate image". So I got nicked $10 per can.

Normally it's about $6. I have enough for about four years now. I understand that it's the same product as before but with a keep the government happy propellant.
