Hi All,

Well I have another date scheduled for a L4/L5 lurabar fusion on my back. This is the fourth time I have had this procedure booked. Last time I actually made it to the hospital, and just as I was about to go into the OR they pulled me back and cancelled the surgery. I believe a trauma patient came in.
I was wondering if I could hear from people who have had this surgery and are happy with the results. I keep hearing the negitive aspects, and I want to go into the surgery with a total positive attitude.
I am getting a little nervous.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you:)
Jan

Jan, you might think about going into the anthesia with a head set on with your favorite music/relaxation music. Many hospitals are recognizing that this calms many people. When I had my last surgery, I went to sleep with a head set on and when I woke up they put it back on me.

Have you seen the post surgical tips thread pinned at the top of the back problems board? That is packed full of lots of great advice.

Good luck and remeraber that we are here for you in the days ahead as you recover.

I have seen the tips and have printed them off! I was just looking to hear from someone who was happy they had the fusion. I have mainly heard from people complaining about it.

My first surgery was re-scheduled 3 times (during January thru March). I would make all arrangements at work, at home and it gets cxl. I remeraber being very upset, this was not easy.
Hopefully next time will be your time to go.
I wish you good luck and a speedy recovery!

So you have pretty much lived my life from March to now! Glad to hear someone else has felt the same frustration! Thanks

Im glad I had mine.

remeraber, most folks here have on going problems, problems that surgery cant correct (or their surgery corrected only one of multiple problems), or failed fusion/lamis/etc. folks like me that had good outcomes tend to drift away. Im not here anywhere near what I used to be.. I was on every day before and months after my fusion. so you tend to hear only the bad stuff and rarely the good outcomes.

now that Im OK I dont hit here much either. I try to stop in more though.

the majority of fusions go well.

Hi Jan.

I had an unsuccessful fusion about a year ago, but I would never try to discourage you from having surgery. We are all different and fortunately, the odRAB are in your favor :).

I sincerely wish you only the best.
