Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LT - Problems at High Speeds?

I am about to buy a new motorcycle. One bike I am considering is the 2009/2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LT (already setup for touring). I've read countless reviews on the Vulcan. Almost everything was deemed favorable in the reviews, except "riding long tours at high speeds may not be pleasant" or some variation. Beyond that, little more information was provided. Does anyone have first-hand experience riding the Vulcan at, say, 65-75 mph for long periods? And was the experience good or not? Thanks..

My boyfriend and I own three motorcycles:
Honda Shadow VLX 600cc
Yamaha V-Star 1100cc
Kawasaki Vulcan 1500cc

I have ridden the Honda Shadow from Tennessee to New York on the interstate. It is only a 4-speed. I think that it depends on how comfortable you are on the motorcycle, whether or not it would be comfortable for you to ride on long distances. I know that the lower the cc's of a bike the less rpm's it is going to have, and so it may sound like it is "whining" while you are going down the interstate, but my Honda Shadow will do over 100 mph and I have never had a problem getting out of the way of other traffic with that bike.

If you are going to live on the interstate then I would probably buy a larger bike, depending on your size, but if you are going to be using the bike for mostly trips that are like less than 200 miles per day, and you will occasionally be taking longer trips, then I would say that bike would be just fine for you.

I think that the Vulcan 900 LT comes with a windshield new, but if it does not, I would highly suggest putting one on there. You would be absolutely surprised at how much the windshield stabilizes the front end, especially at high speeds, or when it is raining. I even bought a small stock windshield for my 600 and could notice a difference with it.

Hope that helps.
