I found this on craigslist, please read quickly...

2001 Ninja Zx7R
has ONLY 17,XXX miles
2nd owner
Dropped only once and taken to shop to inspect---Nothing wrong
New Seals and all work was done by a professional mechanic
New Headlights
Garage Kept
No modifications: ALL STOCK
Includes all riding gear include expect helmet
In addition: Spare parts are included: transmission, sprokets, etc.
Buick horn: People will hear it.

CONS:
Tranmission- 2nd Gear is chipped and I have been skipping it, I do have a transmission ready to put in that will come with the bike
Headlights- High beams do not work, something electrical.
Chain needs to be replaced: Will and can fix it myself, but will take a good amount of money off if bought as is.

...Any idea how much it would cost me to have this other transmission installed? would it be a difficult process to put it in myself if i went and bought a guice/manual bike book?

second um whoever's ridden or owned one how does this bike compare to others n its class..pretty fast? Please suggest a few upgrades to up HP and quality..mpgs??
thanks!

The bike sounds like it is a salvage and its clearly going to cost a lot more than what the bike is worth to fix. I would recommend looking at supersports >5 years of age.

You could compare it to a 1996 GSXR-750. but with more weight & less HP. But it is still a wicked/very fast bike with good handling. A tran install may run between $400-$600 depending on shop. I would leave it stock and ride the crap out of it.
