Recently my kawasaki GT550 has started running on three cylinders.
The bike has always been a bit lumpy running and at tick over it would drop and raise about300-500 rpm. Also it burns oil at start up.
but now i find that No3 cylinder runs colder than the others, but does warm up. The bike will idle as usual, once warm, but when you rev it all is ok until 4thou, and then it starts miss firing on No3.
Ive checked the coils, and they spark, ive checked the carbs and there is no air leaks, fuel leaks, and when i drain the bowl the fuel is clean. Ive also replaced the plug on No3, but still the same problems.

Im suspecting the compression has gone on No3.
But with no way to test it until i buy a compression tester, i thought i would ask incase someone has another idea to try.

I was going to swap the carbs for another set, but seeing as the set on the bike dont appear to have any problems, i think i would be waisting my time.
