m very disapointed with this bike, i have come to the conclusion i will never be able to rely on this bike for any long distances.

The bike is a 1992 Kawasaki GT550 G7 . With a poxy inline fuel filter that i bought from a motorcycle shop and doesnt seem capable of stopping any fine crap from getting to the carbs. The float bowls have fine particals of brown dust. The tank is rust free inside and clean.
I have 3 sets of carburettor banks, and all leak!. It makes no diffrence what i do the carbs will leak.
The set of carbs currently on the bike are the G7 model carbs. The bike wont idle correctly... holds the rpm at 1500, then the rpms waver, fall off and it dies. when riding along, the bike splutters and missfires at around 5,500-6 thou and seems gutless.
The carbs will leak on No1 as and when it feels like.Hitting/ draining the carbs doesnt solve it.Inspecting the parts everything look fine- no dirt/ fault.
The carbs have been off the bike at least 10 times. I have cleaned them 5 times, inspected and replaced worn parts. Inspected the float needles(all fine) inspected all the floats( all fine). Adjusted the float hieght to 15mm. Ive took them to a mechanic who inspected them for me... and STILL they leak!.
The other set of carbs (G9) i cleaned those, put them on today. They were fine for about 5 mins and then No4 started to leak badly. So i replaced the needle valve in No4 while the carbs here still on the bike.Once i had done that, i turned the fuel back on and it began to leak from 1,2,3... so i ripped them off and threw them across the garden and reinstalled the leaky G7 ones.
The last set of carbs are from a G4. They leak on No1 intermitantly. Again nothing i do seems to permantly resolve the problem.

I find this problem unbelieveable that im thinking that this bike is a lemon or cursed.

I havnt got a clue as to what i can do that will defiantly 100% solve this problem permantly and allow me to enjoy some high mileage. I would like to go to Scotland on it, but all this year its been carb problem after carb problem.
Any ideas?
Other than sell it, set fire to it... write Kawasaki a scorning letter..... lol
- All the filters i can buy for motorcycles are either paper or plastic and dont appear to be any good at stopping fine dust. Doesnt matter where i get them from. This is the 3rd filter. I dont have alot of room under the tank to install a standard car filter- and i wander if it would actualty improove anything?.
- The fuel in the tank is 3 days old and clean. There is also a plastic filter in the tank.
I dont currently have anything to drain the fuel into... but i will look into it- although i havnt a clue what to flush the tank out with.
- fixing the carburettors is near impossible if there appears to be nothing wrong with them!! other than a tiny bit of dust in the bottom of the bowl.. they work for an undetermined amount of time and then begin to leak for not apparant reason. I.e bike not running, turn fuel to prime.... doesnt leak , then begins to leak with in 5-45mins. Orr doesnt leak , start bike get 10mins of riding and starts leaking.
