Kawasaki 1100 STX, Piston Rod Issue...HELP!?

I recently purchased a used 1100 stx, the engine is torn all the way down. On the third cylinder, the piston rod broke loose off from the crankshaft. The previous owner said the engine seized and this is how it happened. I suspect there was a lack of lubrication due to the ski sitting for a while. So when put under load the engine seized and threw the rod. There is no scoring on the cylinder walls, the piston looks great and from what I can see the crankshaft and crankcase look good too. Can I just replace the piston rod, rings etc and be good to go or do I need to replace more to insure this doesn't happen again?
