Actually he does care about Brown Pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis), he just doesn't care about American White Pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos).

Both of these disasters were caused by forces outside of the respective administrations, one by nature, one by corporate negligence.

The responses of both administrations were poor.

If it was up to Republicans, we'd be drilling on land in places like ANWR and in shallower off-shore waters. It's the faux-environmentalist limousine liberals who just don't want to see the ugly rigs from their beach houses that have driven us to this madness of drilling out in the middle of the ocean under a mile of water.

well in on fairness to Obama, Obama thought that BP would do a excellent job managing this oil well, they have not, BP has done a very poor job, took big risk, and lost, what to save some money..

The Gulf coast states has ask for barrier walls be put up to stop the flow oil coming in, No... BP doesn't want to pay for these walls, and yes they have plenty of money to help this problem, they made $ 6-billion in profit the last 1/4 of the year

Katrina wasn't bigger than the BP spill because it only affected black people right?

and what madness caused BP to skimp on safety features and what makes you think they wouldn't do that in ANWR?

Or how about the madness that caused righwing talking heads to downplay this spill because you know its just ONE rig out of 3000 in some 40 YEARS right?

.

The technology is there. It's expensive, so what? If the profit margin takes a hit or gas goes up a few pennies, small price to pay.

Buuuut,

As was posted in another thread, lack of enforcement/outright corruption is a factor we need to deal with first, or all the technology in the world is useless.

yo relax alex, it's just oil on some pelicans. not like it's another katrina, or something.

He went on tour promoting rig safety, he should at least know what that means: not allowing the government corruption--himself included--that lets corporations like BP to bypass typical safety standards. "Safer than ever before," he says; not under those conditions, obviously.

yea, comparing a natural disaster, to a man made disaster just doesn't compare, Bush did not order a hurricane up, Obama order a oil rig drilling

Obama hope/pray plan is not working, he needs to see that BP pays for what all ever needs to be paid out for the clean up, it just really seems Obama is not getting this done, hes trying to cover it up more then he wants BP to pay the bill for clean up, I guess Obama is deep into BP pockets, cant bite the hand that feeds you

Here is a note to all of you FOX News mouth breathing conservatives

You cannot relate Katrina to this oil spill and blame Obama in the process by claiming that this is his catastrophe. When for the last 5 years you have tirelessly told us that Katrina was not the fault of Bush and that it was not a catastrophe.

The point is it would be a hell of a lot easier to fix if it was on land than a mile under the sea.

Huh?

Yeah, the levees were a lot like a BP deep-water rig: catastrophic failures.

The government was responsible for PREVENTION (especially when Obama kept bragging about safety), after the blow-out failure you'd think they were trying to stop a hurricane.

the point is it wouldn't make a difference..even if anwr was open there would STILL be offshore rigs..its not an either/or deal.

a correction: they didn't downplay it..they initially said it was a leftwing liberal conspiracy. Fox news hinted at it but your boy rush went all in and declared it.

The same federal government who gets dumptrucks of shit heaped on them by you and those like you for taking a whole three days to get backup aid to Nola... but after the oil spill it took eight days for the federal government to do anything and this is being right on top of the situation.

Oh right I forgot, it's not exactly the same federal government, is it.

I fail to see how the federal government cleaning up an oil spill at sea when the Constitution gives them jurisdiction over maritime property, and the federal government owning car companies and telling me what kind of health insurance to buy are in any way similar. Please halp.
