Katana 2 (qwest) not being read!!

does anyone else have this problem with this phone?
when i connect it to my pc it just charges, it does not read it to a com port..why?
I'm very sure i have the correct drivers for the phone cuz this does not
happen to all the katana 2 phones that i connect on my pc....
any solutions?
 
check device manager, look under modems, ports, and usb, do you see any unknown, sanyo, or usb devices not listed when you have it unplugged. watch device manager. if no changes, the communication port is damaged on the phone, some phones can still continue to charge on certain pins of the port. try cleaning it wih non conductive electrical contact cleaner
 
every once in awhile you have to clean the phone's port out with a stiff brush. just be sure not to damage the port, and try it again, also, i sometimes have to hit it with a little iso alcohol and brush.
 
I've had problems similar too. I just go to the phones/modems in the cp and remove all of that phones in there and then plug it in and give it another shot. It's always worked for me.
 
two things to try

- plug the cable in upside down ... like stevekice said
- plug the phone in and dial ####End ... that's ####+the red end-call button

BIG thanks to stevkice and randomwit!!!

I have had a very nice Katana floating around the backroom for over a month now that I could NOT get my PC to recognize. I tried USB, I tried serial, nothing. I guess the pins were dirty, I plugged the cable in upside down like you all suggested, then right side up and all is well now.
