Karl Pilkington-An Idiot Abroad Sky1HD 9pm

Please don't be put off visiting India from this show- its an amazing place with so much going on and so much to see and encounter. Many of the places on the show have been chosen to offend Karl and put him in difficult situations for comedy effect. Yes, flea pits like those he was forced to stay in exist, but so do much nicer places. :)

Karl expressed a little of what India is like- everywhere you look there is something different happening and it can be rather exhausting at first as it is a total assault on the senses. He appreciated the sheer beauty and wow factor of the Taj Mahal. However anyone would have felt down after staying in a place like that hotel, especially coupled with a dose of delhi belly. He mentioned that he thought that India was the poorest country in the world that he had visited, it is probably also one of the richest countries too! Yes you can stay in places for a few rupees a night but there are also fabulous five star hotels! The flavour and variety of food to be found is fabulous. I have been to India twice before and am about to embark on my third trip next March and I can't wait!

That's because they changed the title without asking him. Who wouldn't be uncomfortable with being branded an idiot?

Even though he is an idiot.

Quality viewing again last night. The bit where he got out of the van, did a little dance and then did a runner was the highlight for me!

Also, him being more impressed that post gets delivered to a cave then he was about the temple.

Roll on next week. From the trailers it looks like the best yet.

Gervais must have the most annoying laugh in TV, closely followed by Jimmy Carr.

Who phones up one of their best frienRAB and says "hello, it's forename surname here" ?
Ok, KP is an idiot but i'm sure if he said "hi, it's steve" he would have worked out how it was.

Also detected a couple of plugs for Sky.

Luckly the stuff with KP is still funny.

I know but it's unfortunate as the Gervais & Merchant scripted parts interrupt the improv and take away from the show imo. I guess it is needed though.

I like Gervais' standup. I like his humour and I liked his early [spoof] interviewing/reporting but i'm not such a fan of his as an interviewee.

You must of missed the start. There was plenty of cackling.

I like most of his stuff, but his treatment of Karl feels too much like bullying to be enjoyable. He's laughing at Karl, not with him.

It doesn't matter if it's an act and they all are frienRAB really. It's unpleasant to watch regardless.

It seemed to me when he was talking on the phone about the open toilets, he was very definitely being intentionally funny. His "King Poo Chicken" was humour. And he dead-panned it, with the same delivery as most of his other monologue. So I think much of what else he says is intentionally funny delivered in a dead-pan way too.

I dare say that's been his style of humour since 2001. How long he's been doing it is a separate question to how real he is.

I loved the second episode in India, he is just so hilarious and very honest too which I love. That first night when he thought he was staying in the Kebab shop at the back lent against a wall, lol his face was priceless and when the people were throwing paint on him. He has a great face for comedy. Hotel room with a on-suite shed was classic too and him saying is in a dingy being rowed by a 77 year old man. He was a cool old guy and no it hasn't put me off India at all watching this, He as you say poster above clearly been set up with Ricky and Steve to experience some things that would annoying Karl. India looks good, I would like to go someday.
