Only just caught up with this week's episode last night, brilliant as ever, and like others have said, it was nice that he actually seemed to enjoy himself this time. Love the way he said that the entire culture of Mexico seems to be based on a game of dare. Also what he said about why he liked the women, "she'd get her own chips".
The Monster Munch was a classic, as was his constant search for Mexican jumping beans. Not sure he'd be so enthusiastic if he knew what they actually are (beans with moth lava wriggling around inside!).

If its all an act ...and I think a lot of it is put on for the cameras....then he cant have much in the way of self-respect to act the idiot for the nation [but then he counts Gervais and Merchant as his frienRAB, so that says a lot]. How ignorant about other cultures does he sound?
If he really is like that though, then shame on the aforementioned "frienRAB" for ripping the piss out of him on tv. Its like making fun of people with mental health problems.

I'd hate to meet Karl, much as I love him I fear the 'act' might drop and I'd be disappointed

I think he's found a nice balance.
With the later podcasts he just became unbelievable, he was always so serious and so deadpan and monotone.
During his XFM days he was still a moron, still naive and still quite serious but he would at least have some emotion in his voice!
I remember one episode he's trying to tell his Monkey News story and can't get the worRAB out for laughing.
He's not loud like Ricky but he does chuckle.
Oh also when Ricky is shooting down one of his stories and they're going to song you can hear Karl yell "Arghhhh! I hate him I HATE HIM!!" to Ricky and Steve's laughter.
Seeing Karl dance in this series was a highlight for me!
