Karate Kid 2010 - Totally Inaccurate

Got this on at the moment & not only is it a total rip off from the original classic but is totally inaccurate as the kid learns Kung Fu & not Karate.

Trust Hollywood to make an almighty cockup of a once great film.

The only thing enjoyable about this is Jackie Chan with his cheeky style attitude. As for the kid playing the lead role, I can sense him following on in his fathers footsteps.

Making crappy recorRAB
:D

Avoid this film unless you are desperate or are able to see a free screening

Congratulations, you're the first person on the internet to ever make this observation.

This is notable as the first Hollywood film in which Jackie Chan doesn't play his usual comedic attitude. Have you even seen it?

I haven't seen the new one, but isn't it meant to be a remake anyway? It's obviously had some changes. I heard it was set in China instead of the USA? Strange decision.

The remake was originally called "The Kung Fu Kid" but the studio intentionally changed the title to captitalize on a more well known name. It was a business decision to entice the fans (old & new).

I just saw a trailer for this today - it does seem to be a bit of a remake, but I think re-imagining is probably a better description as it is a very similar story but with slight differences but I really unsure whether I will be watching it any time soon mainly because I am not a fan of Jaden Smith, I don't find him a good actor, and the few things I have seen him in he kind of just grates me, Good luck to the kid and I hope his acting skills improve as he grows up, but right now I don't think he is there

I read that the "Karate Kid" moniker is in reference to the fact that the kid has learnt a bit of karate prior to landing in China. Also, the movie got quite good (and pleasantly surprised) reviews.

I think the OP was relating it to the original film series and not reality, and since it's called Karate Kid... that should be a big clue to what style of fighting is, or should be, in the film.

It's better than the original. Which wouldn't be difficult anyway as that movie seems to be wrapped in layers of rose-tinted cellophane for a lot of people and treated as some sort of untouchable high art (I guess they forget that it was really very mediocre, downright terrible at points). But this new one is definitely an improvement in pretty much every respect.

As someone who has practiced Karate for almost thirty years, I have always found The Karate Kid films embarrassing and a load of old tut !

Hey, I like Bill...

Karate Kid totally inaccurate? Obviously only certain kinRAB of inaccuracy are allowed?.. like Brucie hitting people he hasn't seen yet and wire-fu in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Turd ...
