I just want your opinions on each of the phones, you pet peeves with them or likes.

I'm wondering why one has the fastest camera, is easier to text on, and has the best reception and signal quality.
 
the camera on the SE is faster (the camera on the u600 is really quite slow). the SE is easier to text on too if you prefer predictive. for reception, the u600 has a slight edge.
however, you've chosen the 2 worst brands for reception quality. get a motorola or maybe even a nokia for that.
 
Oh.... that's not good. This may have an impact on me getting the U600. I need a phone with good reception. I have Motorola phones and I think their reception are not that good. The SE phone I had before had better reception than the Moto.
 
that seems odd. not too sure why that is. you can change the reception strength on the motos. having tested phones of both moto and SE of mine and those of friends/acquaintances on the same network in a dead spot, i can say that moto are considerably better than SE for reception. SEs and samsungs were always permanently dead in that area, and the motos were the only ones to send a text or make a call.
 
The Motos I have are locked via the cell phone company so that could be a factor. Maybe they are program to have a lower reception strength??

My Moto ROKR E2 has bad reception compare to my old SE Z500a where I work. I'm getting dead spot with the Moto while the SE I could use anywhere. And my work phone just sucks due to the service provider (Nextel).

Dr.Spaghetti MD - I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I was debating on the same phones. I think I will still go for the U600.
 
To save battery. I remember reading some where about moto phone having half or full rate and by default moto made it half rate. I could be wrong.
 
you're correct. there are 4 levels(from what i remember) - slow, medium, fast, and continuous, ranging from less good to best reception. the default setting is medium. on continuous, it will be constantly searching for the best signal, but it does drain the battery slightly more.
 
is camera speed and reception any better on the u700 i wonder?

after reading this it seems like the k810i is the clear choice, but i love the looks of the u600. plus i've been using SEs for 2 years now i want a change.

i dont think i could do moto again, my e398 was painfully slow and a ***** to mod, are motos still like this?
 
there isn't anything wrong with the reception on the u600. i was just pointing out that if you are in an area where it is very difficult to get a signal and you absolutely have to get a signal, then you won't stand a chance with samsungs or sony ericssons, but motos will do the job and nokias may do.
for most situations, it will be fine.
not too sure about speed difference.


motos are MUCH faster these days. or at least most of them are. some f the cheaper ones such as the KRZR are meant to be a tad slow, but the v8, v6 maxx etc are very fast. the e398 was last used by prehistoric monsters from the stone age
 
So, if you're keeping your phone plugged in most of the time, that isn't a worry, and you can actually program it to use more power to get better reception? How come they don't advertise this?
 
gem, i gotta agree and disagree.

usually sony ericsson reception is far better than motorola or samsung. but nokias is pretty good.
 
you've gotta be kiddin' . SE reception is generally rubbish and on the same level as samsung.
the fact that motorola reception can be altered for the sake of battery life is a plus. the continuous mode can search constantly for a signal puts it streets ahead. even on medium its still streets ahead of any SE.
reception goes like this:
motorola > nokia > SE = samsung. SE are probably just a tad better than samsung when all is said and done.
 
I'm concerned about that battery life, sometimes i'm away from home for 3-4 days at a time and if i upgrade the battery to the 1000mah for the u600, can I do this?

Also, could someone post pics they've taken with the u600?
 
Um, thats not what the speed settings on Motorola phones does. The setting affects how often the phone searches for a signal when in a no signal area. For example, if you are underground in the subway, you might have no reception. However, the phone is constantly looking for towers to connect to. The speed setting affects how often the phone searches for those towers. The fast or continuous setting will search more often, giving you signal sooner once you step back into an area with signal, but will drain the battery faster. This does NOT affect reception, and will not give you any better reception.

SE phones generally have very good reception, but it does depend on the model. Some, like the W600i, W300i, the Z710i are excellent, while others like the K550i may have issues. Motorola is also quite good, but again, it depends on the model.

one question, in your opinion,if you stay in exactly the same place in a dead spot with your phone, do you think that the signal is always of exactly the same strength over the space of (say) 3 hours?
