For some odd reason, when my phone rings it can achieve much louder volume (Ring volume set to 8) than when playing the same mp3 on my music player. I have tried everything i can think of to make my speaker louder to no avail (including upping the equalizer bars, which tends to lead to nasty sound distortion).

Anyone have any fixes or comments on this?

Have you tried pressing the + button on the right side of the phone? the same button that is used to zoom in with the camera.:)

Well DUH. I'm talking about how mp3s can achieve much higher volume when they are used as ringtones as opposed to when they are played by the media player (even when volume is maxed). I'm trying to figure out how to hack that so that the media player can play at such volume w/out distorting quality.

U can set ur player volume to the ringtone volume thru FAR manager.
Its risky though as it can cause probs in ur phone.

Meh I'm not gonna risk damaging my phone just to increase my speaker volume lol. Thanks anyway though. If anyone else has any other way, please share! :)

Same problem here - I can't bear to listen to music unless it's through the headphones. However I got really embarrased when I had my first call... I was walking through town when suddenly, Axel F ringtone went off. It was so loud that I had peoples heads turn about 20 meters away from me lol!

Anyway I know what you mean about the volume. The Media Player is really naff for music on loudspeaker. The radio however is almost as loud as the ringtones though. My guess is that:

1) ringtones are loud so they're more noticeable.

2) Phone radios never tend to get an as good signal as proper ones, so the volume boost may be to make it sound a little more audiable.

3) I don't know about the media player. Maybe it's to save battery? Maybe the speaker isn't designed for long term music on full blast? I'm stumped on this one.

My head is made of cheese. How smart could I be? I mean, c'mon.

That would make sense. :( I guess there's always the alternative... plugging your boombox into your cell phone :)

Lol! The Phone would probably blow up having to generate that amount of output power! But hey - we may just be onto something here!
