k1m + laptop + netzero?

I'm trying to set up my krzr as a dial-up modem to connect to netzero. I have entered all the connection information for my netzero account with the krzr usb modem, but when i click connect, the phone dials then disconnects after about 2 seconRAB. Is there a special modem init string i need or something?

it does not work like this. the phone is capable of data transfer only through the carrier's network, you cannot just dial in to a regular modem and connect.

then why does it work on a tmobile v3 razr?

on a tmobile v3 the you can use 'phone as modem'. you cannot dial up to net zero.

I guess i thought it was possible. It makes no sense to me why it's not possible with winmodem technology, but whatever. Thanks man.

because the phone is not actually a modem (MOdulator/DEModulator) capable of converting a digital data session to an analog signal. rather when you use 'phone as modem' you are just initiating a data session alloswing you to transfer. on t-mobile you get access to most of the internet, on this is not included with the WAP browsing plan.
