So, 2 episodes have aired, and there's still no talkback for this great series?!

So, I decided to make this discussion for anyone who's keeping score on it.

Well, let's discuss.

Moe?

No offense, but if I want to ogle a anime girls, I ogle at the ones who atleast look old.

Also, does anyone suddenly think of Kon from Bleach with this title?

.....

.............

....................(snaps back)

I'm sorry what were we talking about? I was too busy focusing on the best character in this show.

Agreed. Mio is quite awesome.

I'm loving K-ON. My main reason honestly is we haven't had a good music anime imo since Beck, and I'm interested in seeing how they handle concerts and what not on here, assuming they get around to it.

Oh, come on guys, it's not like Strike Witches or anything fanservice-y.

It's about girls forming a rock band, which should be considered automatically awesome.

Don't be afraid of the moe factor, guys. Heck, it doesn't even look that moe to me.

Bleach is a music anime?

He must have meant Beck. An honest mistake, I'm sure.

I actually will be paying some attention soon. It doesn't look that "moe" to me compared to other series I would ascribe the term to, and in any event if a show is good I'm not going to ignore it over the style alone. Content and story and entertainment value is what separates, say, Lucky Star from forgettable/objectionable moe series #79.

"K-ON!" Talkback (Spoilers)

I like K-On, and honestly we need more music anime, and honestly seeing this makes me wish they'd animate the rest of BECK, but back on topic, but I enjoy K-On and I hope it turns out decent, and despite everyone saying Mio, Ritsu's my fave

I agree, as much as I like mo

I'm a girl and I find Mio to be to cute to resist. Her personality isn't bad either. She's shy but not to the point where you want to kill her and she has a tough side but not to the point that "If your not Haruhi or Asuka you don't get to be that way and be loved."
The show is fun too. Not all moe is bad and people shouldn't confuse moe and lolicon... Plus the OP and ED (especially the ED) are good and catchy and I'm expecting a few in show preformances.

I can't really decide who's my favourite character in this series, really.

A lot fo people like Mio, but I'm not really into her, she's cool, but I kinda have a different approach.

Ritsu is the funny girl of the group, and she plays the drums, and I play drums on Rock Band 2 all the time, so I really like drums, but something tells me she shouldn't be my favourite just because she plays an instrument that I like.

Tsumugi is sorta early to call, but I'd like an episode expanding her character a bit more.

It's possible that Yui could be my favourite, she just looks so badass with that guitar, that I just couldn't help but smile when she was playing with it on the second episode, because it's just that cool

I might finally decide after the next episode, but I may shift toward Yui as my favourite.

I hope this series gets more than just 13 episodes, it deserves more than that.

All I have to say is my nickname for this series and by golly I'll keep saying it until it's a meme.

Moe BECK

That is all.

Oh and I'll check this out soon. It looks interesting.

Just saw episode 3, and while not as good as the first 2, it was better than expected.

Commentary time! Spoiler'd just in case.

Oh, so there is some guitar playing in this episode. I was worreid for a second there.

I could've sworn that playing the guitar doesn't make your fingers bleed unless you try so hard.

And for that matter, shouldn't someone recommend a guitar pick?

If Mio screams, a fanboy faints.

Yes, pretend that didn't happen.

The most delighful fingers on the planet.

What'd you expect? Yui's not perfect yet!

You're doing the sign of the horns hand gesture completely wrong!

Yes, they have school life, as well.

I wonder if Yui is cursing very bad things there...

You get the feeling of cleaning your room while you study? Isn't that a myth?

I wouldn't play guitar in that position like Yui, it looks rather uncomfortable.

"It was easy, look!"
"This doesn't match your character."
I won't even speak anything because it would be too soon.

"And who was the one crying to me before the test?"
See? Thankfully, I didn't fall for that.

Too good to even be said.

Isn't that a bit...far?

What's up the "Oh. Wha?!" gag today?

Random Sleeper Hold attack!

"Why is everything such a mess?"
Uh, to advance the plot?

Playing the guitar is officially fan service now.

GAH! Math!

I have no problem looking at my Rock Band 2 drums, guitar and microphone.

That will never get old!

Oh, stop worrying girls, she wouldn't stoop that far.

Text messaging never felt quite awesome.

Ritsu made a mess, I deserve 5 bucks.

Looks like Izzy isn't alone when it comes to snapping necks.

Oh, running gag, got it.

Special training? Studying doesn't involve training at all.

Slacking off to the extreme!

Yeah...it's gonna be...fine, yeah.

"She's mature!"
Obviuosly, that helps.

"Did your sister get all the good genes?"
"That's mean!"
That's not mean, that's just another way of Ritsu...oh wait, I get it, it is mean!

"She's really mature!"
Another running gag, stat!

A long conversation, for once.

Ritsu doing random things can anybody do random things, as well.

"For God's sake!"
Mio is all of a sudden ablaze in this episode.

Are you sure it's not your blood inside your leg screaming for help?

Uh, ow?

Tsumugi, can I invite you to my home someday? I'd like the way to make me study as fast as Yui did there.

So thinking can recover your head injuries? Anyways, that's a first I've seen in animation.

It's like a grenade with it's lid turned off, and then turns into a dud, with Ritsu entering the room in and out like that.

EPIC RITSU MANEUVER

Only to be hit on the head again. That was kinda disappointing.

Every character (so far, wink wink) is in the same room. CALLED IT!

What happened to studying?

There we go.

This is boring, so let's have a dream!

WTF?! What in the world...?!

Okay, so Yui's dreams are out of this world, got it.

Uh...drama moment?

Oh, transition scene. Guess it wasnt?

Ui is very, very, very concentrated when it comes to video gaming. No seriously, look at her.

Oh, boy...

So, Yui's stumped down because she got a PERFECT score on the test?

"How extreme!"
...to the max!

The twist? Yui forgets the chorRAB she learned earlier in the episode.

Oh, Mio, so hyped and now disappointed.

"You can still play that?"
That's kind of an interesting way to end the episode, I must say.

On the preview for the next episode:

I've heard that they go to the beach in this episode, and the rumors might be right.

Thanks for making the preview vague, KyoAni.

So...do they play a bit as a band in this one?

I did. D: Sorry about that. Was thinking about a ton of stuff when I typed it out and I related one anime that starts with "B" with another. Should've just said "Mongolian Chop Squad: Beck" instead, Haha. Forgive me!

Anyway, I continue to love this show. Just saw Episode 03. I continue to love Mio, but Yui is absolutely adorable.

Mio is definitely my favorite of the four. She's kinda Kagami-ish from Lucky Star, but not to the same extremes.

That ending is really darn catchy too, Although I'm not sure it meshes with Mio saying she only plays bass because she doesn't want to 'front' the band and be the focus. She's the focus of the ending and the character most seem to be latching onto if you go by online popularity of her.

BTW Mio's VA, Yoko Hikasa, is gonna be huge after this series I think.

I have to say though I like Tsumugi's kind of obvlious rich girl view on things. She's obviously smart going by the tests they did, but also really daft about things.

Plus when she closed her eyes she was a dead ringer for Shino from Kannagi. That whole closed eye wheels within wheels plotting vibe actually came off then

This isn't just Moe Beck, it's Azumanga Beck!

However, as a musician I can tell the source material and the animation studio really give a darn about getting it right from the music side of things. The fact they licensed the official designs for all those instruments is a sign of trying to get it right. I mean, maybe it's the nostalgia of my school days talk back when I used write music in school (over a decade a go - I'm so old,) but I really think they've got the musician minRABet right.

Really, it has a lot more soul than your typical straight moe title, so I definitely think it'll be one to watch.

Agreed. That and I've noticed they've paid close attention to the way the characters fingers/hanRAB are used with the instruments. They try to handle it accurately.. whether it's guitar playing, the drums, or the keyboard.

I also did music in school, wrote some stuff.. play most stuff by ear. I've been playing the piano since I was about 8 maybe? I'm 23 now.
