JW’s. Christians how are these quoted verses related to the ending of the Sabbath?
I asked this question and have not had one answer, Is there not one JW who can give me an answer?
In the Watchtower of June 2009 on page 22,23 we find an article about the Sabbath keeping being temporary.
“The apostle Paul explained that Jesus offered himself as a sacrifice and “abolished….the Law of commandments consisting in decrees” and “blotted out the handwritten document.” Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14) What was “abolished” and “blotted out’ included the Sabbath law…..”
Ephesians 2: 15 By means of his flesh he abolished the enmity, the Law of commandments consisting in decrees, that he might create the two peoples in union with himself into one new man and make peace; [Watchtower version]
Colossians 2:14 and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake. [Watchtower version]
When I read the context of these two verses i find it is all in reference to making the Jews and the Gentiles just one people under God through Christ’s sacrifice.
Note Ephesians 2: 15 “that he might create the two peoples in union with himself into one new man and make peace” [not used in the quote by the Watchtower]
Also Colossians 2:11 “Therefore keep bearing in mind that formerly YOU were people of the nations as to flesh; “uncircumcision” YOU were called by that which is called “circumcision” made in the flesh with hands” [Watchtower version] Gives us the context of verse 14.
I can see no possible reference to any inference for it applying to the "abolishing" or "blotting out" of the Sabbath.
Please help me find the understanding of how these two quoted verses relate to the non-observance of the Sabbath.
