Just watched Twilight and now I'm hooked..

That has to be the silliest comparison I read in a while. The vampire of LTROI is a twelve-year-old, for heaven's sake. LTROI isn't about romance or even love. It's about taking loyalty to a new level. The boy is effectively this generation's Ren to the b-girl's Dracula, but without that pesky thing called insanity. :D

OP glad you enjoyed the film..I'm also a big fan of the films and I've also read the books..no teenage girly girl here either..I'm 38 and became hooked when my teenage son bought me the twilight dvd for xmas..the vampire diaries is great too if you read the books..don't follow the tv show as it's nothing like the books at all

My Marketing lecturer was on about the Twilight movies this morning, I think she's watched them and she was on about how she thinks Edward looked so cute and she was giggling and practically drooling over him. The woman's in her 40s I think! Sandwich short of a picnic I think.

Not very fair. LOTR had a stellar cast and a half decent script which was an adaption of the most popular adults book of the 20th century.

For me Twilight was sort of ok and was an improvement on the book (which is the only one of the series I've read). New Moon I found laughable especially the gay werewolves. Eclipse was the best of the three but was a bit all over the place. I felt that I was missing out on something that must be better explained in the book. I did like the back story elements though they didn't give the back story of Edward who is one of the main characters.

Nowhere near the first probably 6 episodes of vampire diaries were sketchy but improved dramtically and the books by LJ Smith are far better written than the twilight books, i love reading stuff like this and twilight is a bit meh, the charcters aren't written particularly well especially Bella and considering its all from her point of view makes it eek

The third one is better then the second. Watching the second one did teach you two things. Werewolves all walk around wearing just shorts. And secondly there aren't any female werewolves.

I was tricked into seeing the first one in the cinema. I've never been so bored in all my life. I found the movie truely horrendous. The fact that these films even made it into production just shows the power of faRAB. I think in a few years they'll be completely forgotten.

I can see what the appeal is, although it is hard to explain to someone who isn't willing to give it a chance.

My boyfriend took me to see the first movie and I was convinced I would detest it (I thought the trailer was ridiculous). But I was hooked after having watched it. I then read all the books and enjoyed them. I have since seen the other movies and have the first two on DVD.

I don't think Kristen Stewart or Robert Patterson deliver superb performances. The books are not incredibly well written. That doesn't matter though.

It is simply the premise which holRAB the appeal - she is a nice, ordinary girl who falls in love with someone who she believes is worth 100 times more than her - and, he loves her back.

You can enjoy the thrill of those feelings back when you were a teen and have fallen in love for the first time (or can help your fantasies if you are young enough without having experienced it just yet). The love, the affection, the sexual tension, having this one person mean the world to you. Having this amazing secret of him being a vampire, you shouldn't be together but nothing can stop you.

Then throw another guy in the mix (Jacob), totally opposite to Edward and also mad about you. Add in some drama of people trying to kill you, your lover protecting you and college/homework being the least of your worries. It takes you from the mundaneness that is life and lets you escape into a fairytale world of craziness, hotness, fear and fun.

It's great fun. I'm looking forward to the next movie. I think that the only one who has demonstrated much acting talent is Taylor Launter who plays Jacob.

I got into Twilight - both the books and the movies - this year. It's not Robert Pattinson I'm hooked on though, it's Peter Facinelli...he's absolutely stunning looking (especially with his dark hair in real life) and has the best personality! He's on Twitter a lot too, and replies to a lot of the Tweets his fans send to him. I haven't been lucky enough to get a Tweet from him yet, but I'm sure he's heard of me by now ;)

I am 35 and have been a fan of vampires for years e.g. Nosferatu etc. I love these films and books. Don't care that the books are poorly written in places and the films poorly acted. It is pure escapism.

I also have a little crush on Mr Pattinson but don't tell Mr Monkey! :o
