Got to say I was a bit disapointed. ... The best bits wasn't until the very end.

Their must be a next one... ended funny.. (i hate when films end like this).

But not of the US version - 'The Ring' is a remake of Ringu, which is part of a trilogy.

The Japanesse orginals are the best if you can find them (they are available on DVD here now)

I truely enjoyed 'The Ring' so much so that i saw it 3 times!

I still can't get my head around what simara was upto with that Video, or weather the video was 'dynamic' because of the missing track and the fly being plucked from the screen.

I hope they re-make the rest of them, i need to know that the morgans were up to.

So many questions, very few answers (if any)

( has anyone watched the Japanise versions? i believe they are very good. are the DVD's dubbed in english? or just english subtitles. I think reading a suspense movie would some what remove the suspense!!)

Subtitles so far as I know.

I must admit I really liked the video on the film - and therefore I'd be one to have watched it and subsequently got a phone call.

D'oh!

JUST WATCH THE ORIGINALS !!!
Jesus !! Come on, you don't need to wait till the US remake and butcher Japanese film before you watch it... JUST WATCH THE JAPANESE FILMS !!

If anyone is interested, a translation of the original novel is now available to buy in the UK (imported from US). The author is Koji Suzuki, and the publisher is Vertical, ISBN 1 932234 00 4 (which probably makes it the first book the company has published).

A friend who works at Waterstones ordered me a copy. Haven't read it yet, but it's designed very nicely by Chip Kidd, who's best known for his work on DC's coffee table books.

Shame it isn't an omnibus of all three novels in the trilogy, though. The others are called Spiral (I think there's a tv series called Ring: Spiral) and Loop.

It was a scene for scene remake... Some things changed. Like the two school frienRAB at the beginning of the Japanese version seem like closer frienRAB than the US one. The US frienRAB just acted like they knew of each other...

As I said, if you wanna know what happens after the first film, get the Japanese films, as they'll be almost the same as any remake coming....

personally i thought the ring was rubbish. the best bit was when she lifted the body out the water and it turned to a skeleton, yum

p.s samara neeRAB a hair cut

The US version of Ring 2 will go in a different direction to Ringu 2, word has it that it won't be a remake at all, but a different storyline altogether from the Japanese sequel.

In actual fact, The Ring is a remake of 'Ring'. Ringu, or Ring 0 as its sometimes called, is a prequel to the original japanese 'Ring'.

Ringu/Ring 0 is set in the early 60s and tells the story of sadako/samara. Ringu was made pretty recently unlike Ring and Ring 2 and was brought out straight onto DVD. This film inspired hollywood to create a remake of Ring.

I dont know if they have already making it or are making it now, but expect to see The Ring 2 probably next year.

P.S I got the region 1 dvd of The Ring. Its got the actual video that they watch on it. spooky

Erm no....
The Ring is a remake of Ringu.

There are four films films... Ringu, Rasen (aka Ring 2 : Spiral) Ringu 2 and Ringu 0

No no no no no!! Ring 0 was released in 2000, Ring 2 in 1999 and Ring and Rasen in 1998. There wasn't any major gap between film release.
Unless your talking about the TV Movie Ringu: Kanzen-ban which was the very first adaption of the book made in 1995.

No, its not being made at the moment, and currently I don't believe there are plans to.

I wish people would get their facts right before reporting things as fact.

Well now im confused.

I saw the original Ring movie on the Sci-Fi channel not to long ago, and i had been told that The Ring was more or less a scene by scene remake. Now to me, these 2 movies look very similar.

But anyway, if you look on CDWOW theres a Ring Circle box set of dvRAB with the originals in. Its only got the 3 movies in it.

Anyway, sorry if im wrong

The Ring 2 : Rasen was the movie of the second book. The Ring 2 was the sequel to the film of the book.

The remake of Ring was literally a shot for shot remake of the original Japanese film.

But in Japan each film was called Ringu * ... As Ringu is Japanese for Ring.
