Just watched No country for old men....OMG! Anton Chigurh is a scary man

This is one reason I loved this film so much. I like the fact that there is no Speilberg'esque happy ending. I appreciate being given the opportunity to draw my own conclusions at the end and to actually have to think abouut what I have seen, instead of being spoon fed everything on a sugar (or should that be Chigurh coated) spoon :)

It's not a matter of being spoon fed anything, it's a matter of creating a coherent story, or not. One of the reasons the Harry Potter films don't work all that well in isolation is that they just arbitrarily stop and start. They're part of a whole. NCFOM felt the same way. It's like watching the first three parts of an hour long show and then being told the final act had been dropped for a news flash, or something. You just feel cheated.

Which bits were incoherent? Chigurh killed the opposition, caught up with Llewelyn, the money and his wife, and the sheriff retired for the reasons given in the film's title.

What were you cheated out of? Except for a conventional Hollywood ending where good triumphs over evil from the barrel of a gun.

Granted there were details that were ambiguous and the subtext of the film was left open for reflection but the main storyline was complete. There was no missing final reel.

This is exactly what they wanted. The public always like a "money shot" at the end of a film (u know wot i mean :D). Part of the reason I love NCFOM is because the ending is so different.
