Just Watch It!

I like to watch a film with as little info about it as possible. I don't even need to know its genre.

Likewise, I don't like to recommend films too highly, cos it raises peoples expectations too much. I like to say 'just watch it!'

I know it's vague, and is always going to be a matter of personal preference, but what films would you recommend in this way?

I'm so opinionated that I never say, "just watch it." I go on and on about how it's soooo important that they watch it, because their lives wouldn't be complete if they didn't.

If I see a truly great film, I'll try and tell everyone I know about it. The window cleaner gets pissed off, and so do random people I pass in the street.

I was gobsmacked watching City of God. I found it hard to believe but know it was based on facts.

As for the other movies you mention, I haven't seen them. So which one is your favourite out of them? :)

We're talking about three of my favourite films ever:

City of God - you know all about already, it seems. Shocking, sad, funny, thrilling and scary, whilst very well made, and using non-actors in strong roles. It's practically a miracle of a film.

Battle Royale is a very dark film, with sprinkles of comedy thrown in. It's a terrific film. It's funny, scary, exciting, violent and entertaining. Takeshi Kitano is amazing, and so are some of the other actors and characters.

Pi is a real film-studenty film, kinda like Memento. It follows a paranoid schizophrenic maths genius who works for the stock market, and a number he comes up with, and the people who want it. It's a Darren Aronofsky film.
