just waiting now...

so I went and had my last phone call with the company that holds my car loan. I politely told them (again) of the trouble I've been having. Having been out of work and now working a low end job. My savings is gone and I can't afford anything. I told them I've been talking with them for months now and asked them again and again to get any kind of help. I told them I can save my mortgage on my house but I simply cannot afford this car payment any longer.

So they transferred me to a supervisor and I told them again of what was up. She gave me some song and dance about how I was irresponsible because I didn't have a backup plan for my backup plans backup. I told her well if they were willing to do anything this loan wouldn't die. I told her it was the bank policy to do nothing is what was causing it. She denied it, and continued to accuse me of being irresponsible so I told her I am doing the responsible thing. My family needs to live in a house, not a car and if you have to take the car then come take it. She noted her computer thingy and asked if there was anything else. I said no and she hung up.

oh well. But next time I'm just gonna save up the cash in my savings and buy a car outright...

I cant unload my truck because Im buying it from someone else and they're paying the loan since they still owe money.

I feel your pain, and I know it sucks. At least you can keep your house though.

well as long as nothing else goes wrong I can keep the house.. so far I should be able to make the payment needed to bring it out of default.. just a question if they honor thier letter indicating that.

Wow, how unreal. Money is God. That's right bitch, you didn't magically know you'd have to go to a lower paying job, and now you should realize how irresponsible you are! The fucking nerve of those people. Talk about heartless.

Good luck man.

update:

yesterday I got a call at 8:00am(exactly when the harassment cutoff time stops, they cant call before 8am or after 9pm) which I seen it was them so I answered. They asked for me and when I said "yes" they hung up. So I called back and was like wtf was that shit. Had a short conversation with the guy about this and that and he finally gave me a number for the banks in house refinancing department. I spent like 45 minutes or so on the phone with them just to get turned down for refinancing but it at least shows that suddenly, they are willing to work a bit more. Dude also told me they aint comming for the car right away.

Today I got called again. Told em to look at thier file. Its still the house or car and I pick house. She didn't argue, or give me some big speech about how if I do nothing now it will be collected on and blah blah.. she just said ok well I hope things go better for you soon sir and I'll note the account and push the next call off for 3 days.

wonder if the obama speech has em being a bit more co-operative.

Try to sell your care before they repo it for the amount owed. If you can do this, its way better than getting garnished.

Sorry about this DL, wish I could help you out.

I dont have any equity in the car. in the few good months I payed on it I barely covered the amount that was tacked onto the loan for my old car which I still owed on. It wouldn't be so bad even in that case but this town is shut down. Everyone is out of work or under employed at the moment. The entire town depends on farming and the oil field as its primary work fields. Well were in the dry season so the crops aint growing too well and the oil field is shut down.. possibly forever since obama made it clear he wants renewable energy and that right soon.

I can't argue that too much cause I can tell you from working in the field we were only tapping the last little pockets left around here. Some were so deviated horizontal I swear they had to be tapping other peoples oil pockets like that episode of the simpsons. But either way because no one can afford.. welll... food... they aint gonna buy a car. and if they are I'm only going to get a few thousand for it maybe. which is what they will auction it for. So far the best idea is to just sit and wait. Perhaps they will finally break down and do a loan mod.. if not, let them worry about the sale of the thing and proceed with paying off yet another repo. I just got done paying off one like a month before I was unemployed. They wont garnish my pay because that's not how it works. They will sell it off for a fraction of its value, hand me a bill and I'll pay them like $50 a month. They will protest and I will tell them thats all thier getting till I get a better job. They might take me to court where they will get a judgement. I'll go before the judge and show him my income vs. expenses and he will tell them they will have to settle for $50 a month till I get a better job. if not I'll file a chapter 13 bankruptsy and get to keep my house and have years to pay them off...

but in the mean time I called the gov to see whats up with my taxes... they wont pay out till march 17th.. which is 14 days OVER the deadline to cure my default on my home loan. Now I gotta call that bank and beg for an extension..

If it gets right down to it, and they wont work with you, at least save yourself a few hundred dollars, and personally deliver the car to the bank, as they will tack the repo fees onto whatever you still owe on the car, when it comes time for them to start the collection process.

I went through something similar, about 8 years ago... when I had bought my ex g/f a car....needless to say, it didnt work out. She wanted to keep the car, but with me paying for it.

Fuck that.

Long story short, I delivered the car and saved about $350. Of course, I still owed about 5k on the fucking thing...but when it went to collections, I settled for 2k.

Lesson learned, fo-sho.

;997790']If you have trouble making the payments, I suggest telling them you can send them $X (X being the most reasonable amount of money you can part with) every month, or every two weeks.

What's important is making some payment, rather than making none. One of my ex's ran me up a ridiculous late fee because she never wanted to make payments on anything
Despite her full time job, living with her parents, recieving $500 from me every month because I thought I should help, and her boyfriend throwing money around, and a $5000 loan from her grandparents
. Basically, I had no fucking idea what Goody's was, nor did I ever have a need for a credit card to that store, so apparently you can use those power of attourney to sign someone up for one. I told them the situation, said I'd send them $50 a month until I got a better job. I paid if off in a few months and it isn't on my credit report as a bad thing.
