Just Starting Bike Races- Bike Prices?

I was looking at starting to do a couple bike races, but I see some of the bikes are thousands of dollars and my price range is only $200-$300. I wanted to go cheap just because it may be something I may not stick with. Are there any good bike sites that would have these kind of prices. I will even by used or old, I'm not paticular at all
