how do i place the the distributor.. do i point the rotor buttin towards #1 cylinder or towards the back of the block i have heard 3 diffrent ways.. i know to have the #1 top dead center and bolth dots lined p on the timing gears but now how about the distributor

if your sure your not 180 out then your rotor should be on #1 spark plug wire on the distributor the position of the distributor is irrelevant, however the slot for the oil pump prime will only let you go 180 eather way, so if you wont start or sputter and pop, turn dis 180

point rotor at #1 on distributor and start then check timing with gun and set where it needs to be it should be great runner then.

point towards #1 on the cap right wherethe plug wires go in and then you will be timed not #1 on the engine block
