Just read about the Videodrome remake...

Why, oh why oh why?

What on earth are they thinking remaking what is, as i'm sure any fan will attest to is a very strange film. I love it now but the first time i saw it it went completely over my head. A few repeat viewings and it grows on you and then gets under your skin and then leaves you feeling like you've been infected by it. Just awesome. I can't understand how remaking this film will do anything other than tarnish the reputation of the original. I just can't see how they can recreate it:confused: or why they'd want to. Please leave our fcut up horrors alone:mad:

It's not the sort of film that suits a massive budget and i think the update will just try and suit the film to the same audience as all the American-teen-horror-flicks that are churned out by Hollywood no doubt losing everything that makes the film so special.

I see David Cronenberg didn't even know about the remake which sounRAB about right, and, much as i enjoyed 'The Ring' (Mainly thanks to Naomi Watts) i thought the Japanese original was far superior, making the inclusion of Ehren Kruger in the production and scripting worrying at best. (i think 'The Ring' was a success despite him rather than because of him) and the rumour that the film is going to be updated to a large scale sci-fi...
(Gimme strength) just about sums Hollywood up at the moment.

A charming surreal fcuted up trip of a movie... and its' remake.
At least we won't have to witness this atrocity until 2011 by which time we'll probably all be dead anyway. (Coughs)

Sorry about the rant, and i know the film's had a mention in another thread but i just needed to vent. Thanks for listening:)

A large-scale sci-fi action thriller? That's not Videodrome. Videodrome is about up-close personal inner disintegration.
It would be OK if they made a film inspired by Videodrome, but a remake, with the same name? I have a bad feeling about it...

Did I read somewhere that they're also remaking Cronenberg's The Fly? Or did I dream (nightmare) that one?

Let's have a remake of Total Recall, scripted and directed by Cronenberg - pleeeease!
