Just ordered an E61, need advice on screen protectors/etc

Hi,

I just ordered an E61 through eBay, it'll be here this week. I also ordered a 2GB mini sd card from newegg (patriot brand).

I always scratch the heck out of the screens on my phones, so I'd like to protect this one. Where's the best place to pick up the screen protectors? Looking for really good ones that don't impair the visibility and that fit perfectly. The phone I bought comes with a carrying case as part of the deal, so that's sorted out.

Also, is there anything else I should think about getting? It comes with a car charger, wall charger (and adapter for the flat prong US style plugs) and all the stuff you get when you buy it new. Any good sites I should visit to get more info/apps/etc? I'm new to Nokia/S60. Always had Samsung or RIM phones.

Thanks a bunch, I'm really excited to get this phone, and retire my D600.

Cheers,
David

It does come fittedwith a screen protector. It does have an obnoxious tab however, but there is a thread that explains how to remove it. Might be worth a search as the screen is about the only thing you'll have to worry about on that tank. Very well built like the other E series I've seen and Owned.

One other thing, I'm looking for an adapter so I can use my headphones with the phone. I saw the "Nokia AD-46 Audio Adapter" on their website: http://www.nokiausa.com/accessories/item_details/1,8994,product:AD-46,00.html

It says not compatible with the E61 though. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Although I don't have an e61, I've used Expertshield and Clarivue on past phones.

I didn't really notice a difference between the two in terms of the screen clarity, but the Expertshield was a bit thicker and seemed to be better quality. I usually just go with Clarivue now, because I like the fact you get 2x shields for the same price.

I got the martin fields version after doing a search on these forums, pretty much universally people said they are the best (but most expensive.) I figure on a 300$ phone paying 15 bucks for a screen protector (including shipping) that can prevent screen damage is well worth it.

I've used the martin sheids ones on a different phone and a digicam and truth is they are not on the level of the Durasec ones. Good but not same level.

Also look into bestskinsever.com and buying in a bulk sheet, if you ever have to do it again. For the same $15, you can have enough material (two 9"x3.75" sheets) to do several screens, even the E61 sized ones

bestskinsever.com is highly popular with the iPod crowd over at ilounge.com. It is 'supposedly' unbranded 3M helicopter tape. It is extremely scratch proof and durable, at least, IME. I've been using it for over 9 months on several devices (iPods/phones). I make my own screen protectors by taking the original screen protector and laying it on the uncut sheet. Then just cut it out with good scissors or an exacto knife. Voila! correct sized screen protector for a few $ and 10 minutes.

HTH.

Ive used Martin Fields on my E61 and now My E61i and I love them. I haven't tried any other premium brands but I notice a BIG difference after putting one of these things on.

ok so I sent an email asking the people at bestskinsever.com of a comparison with Martin Fields product...this was his answer:

"Unfortunately we are unfamiliar with the Martin Fields product; however, it is likely that they are different. Our product is often compared to the www.ShieldZone.com products, and to the best of our knowledge they still use the same material that we do to create our Skins."

so now my question is has anyone compared Martin Fields with ShieldZone.com products?

btw...this is the one I currently use...seems to be exactly like the one that came with my phone when it was brand new. I bought it out in asia for cheap, now I wish I bought more. I've taken it off and washed it one time with soap and water to clean some lint/dirt off, and it still worked fine.

I've also used belkin "ClearScreen Overlays" for my hiptop and they aren't as clear as what I'd like to have. Wouldn't buy those again.

I can't see the difference between having it on or off...it's really quite impressive and my first time spending the $ on a MF. Worth every cent.

Hi monolith,

Well i am using the AD-46 with my E61 and it works perfectly with a pair of Shure EC2 headphones no idea why it says it's not supported after all it's just a pop port adapter and microphone.
